Did some people call him the gangster of love?

As I've been giving my poor old Seamaster a beating at work I've picked up a rather snazzy Timex Expedition, it actually looks very much like the Hamilton I'm looking at buying

After being sat in my drawer for 30 odd years, thanks to Google I finally worked out this is an 1894 William Ehrhardt. It was my Great Great Grandad's.
I should give it a bloody good clean the silver has tarnished a lot but it still runs just fine

To polish or not to polish..?
I think a bit of patina is nice on an older watch.

Some friends of mine bought me a pocket watch for my 50th and had it engraved on the back. I was really chuffed with it. Not something I would think to buy for myself, but have worn it on several occasions when I want to give the impression of being a gentleman.

Does anyone have any experience of Christopher Ward watches? My Rolex Datejust has been my daily watch for the last 5 years and I fancy a change, and the C65 Trident GMT caught my eye: https://www.christopherward.com/retro-d ... K0-B0.html

Does it have an alarm function that goes, "Achtung! Spitfire!!...Achtung! Spitfire!!"?

Work colleague who is well versed on watches has one and rates it as a nice piece with a half decent movement.
He's a Rolex Daytona, Omega and Grand Seiko wearer so tends not to buy rubbish.

Can't wear it until the weekend as its been deemed a birthday pressie :D

Quite like that, understated.
Enjoying wearing this watch and apart from forgetting to wind it daily (I'm getting into the routine now), its keeping perfect time and is much easier to read at a brief glance than my Rolex. Strangely, It also gets more attention. The green strap seems to catch people's eye.
All in all, I'm really happy with the purchase as a day to day watch

CW do have a good reputation, but that's a lot more than they would normally go for - I'm not sure it would hold its value at all.

The trick with CW is to wait till they have a sale on (about twice a year) and you'll get one for about a 10th of that price.

This dropped though the letterbox today

https://spinnaker-watches.co.uk/collect ... sp-5062-04

Sapphire glass, 42mm, crown rotated bezel, half decent hacking seiko movement, the face has a lovely green tinge to it, a nice display back, plus a voucher for 20% off knocked £40 off.

The strap is a treated waterproof leather and feels nicer than I expected, if I have a gripe it's a bit on thick side. It will be a decent deaily wearer/holiday watch.

What's the state of current smart watches (android / wear os)?

Tiss nearly prime day and I might keep an eye out for one.
