Re: Which One?
Ktm gets my vote but I'd be very happy with the GasGas also... GG just needs spoked wheels.
There have been some amazing deals on the GasGas in the UK... Even thought about upgrading my 2011 690 to the 700SM.
Of all the bikes I own the 690 would be the last one to be sold. Yes it's a little vibey and quite focused when ridden but it's the most fun.
Add in a better seat and it's still capable of covering a few miles too.. Managed 220 miles around North Wales which is enough for me no matter what bike I'm riding.

I want a bike to mess about on. Fart about on the mountain hairpins. Bugger about round town. Nip to the shops.weeksy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 8:22 pmThat's almost impossible to answer. Part of you will, the riding position and how it rides, yes. The power and delivery, maybe not.
The 21+ KTM has a rev counter, plus a blipper and QS, obviously a slipper clutch too and TC.
They're light (in actual motorbike terms) and frugal on juice. But they're not a fire breathing SM that'll rip your arms off.
First thing I'd do is get them to go 1 tooth down on front sprocket even before collection.
They're windy, but no more than any other naked.
I'm honestly 50-50 as to whether you'll love or hate it.
I love riding bikes. But there's a hole.
I don't ride as often as I'd like.
The GSXR is staying.
The barmy GasGas is staying.
I hope the SM fills the hole.

A 690 should be perfect for that .Yorick wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 10:49 pmI want a bike to mess about on. Fart about on the mountain hairpins. Bugger about round town. Re: Which One?
As Weeksy says defo lower gearing if you get one, I went 1 down on the front and it'd still cruise at 80 odd happily.

Re: Which One?
Seems like you can clutch em up in 6th
Looks like he's running with 15/44 which I think is 1 off the front, 2 on the back

My vote for Yorick would be one of these...

Re: Which One?
The GG as it has proper wheels. They are a naked bike styled as an SM and ride well. For what you want and the miles you do I’d be getting a KTM500exc and putting 17’s on it. Then you’ll have a 55hp 105kg proper SM

Re: Which One?
But if you buy the enduro version and swap wheels, add a brake bracket and big disc it’ll be enough
