The win by the LCR on Sunday demonstrates the satellite bikes are pretty much on a par nowadays.

You’re not going to put a rider on a factory bike when he’s 2 seconds off the pace but one of the satellite teams might take a chance.

I think it was 1.6s off the pace and 0.7s from Crutchlow, I think they just keep saying within 2 seconds but I’m sure i read the above.

That sums up what Lin Jarvis had said, he’d need to adapt to the bike and change his style so it would be a longer process, the same happened with him on the Superbike. He openly admitted that he was struggling with the bike and couldn’t ride it they he usually rides, when that’s the case you’re not going to set the world alight in two days.

If he stays in WSBK it’s no bad thing, the racing is good to watch.

In truth i don't think he has anything to gain from going to GPs, he's not going to win it... It didn't do his manager much harm being a Supersport god... As we know, he tried Superbikes and didn't get on with it as well as 600... But he'll make a chunk of change and be a superstar of the sport.

It's sad in some ways that WSB isn't seen alongside GPs in the same way as it maybe once was. Back in the foggy, Corser, Hodgson etc.... It was a true accolade to be WSB champ and they were OK with not being a GP rider. I'd like to see it again being held in the same way.

Toprak was on a hiding to nothing; how could he be expected to be on MotoGP race pace? The bike is totally different to a WSB, and he needs time to adapt, just like any other rookie.

Yamaha have one squad, the results aren't great, and I bet Monster aren't happy about it; Jarvis, knowing that the bike isn't the best, and with sponsors/head office on his case, hasn't got the luxury of time to give rides to people who "might" come good in a year or two.

I still think that if Yamaha had a satellite squad he would have had a place in it. It's less of a risk to put him in a satellite squad, DORNA would have had a good bit of influence in it (plus stump up a chunk of cash to help the team), and he could have learnt the bike/tyres without the pressure of being in a factory team.

After all of this, I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps ship to Ducati in WSB.

Hodgson said earlier this year (maybe last year), that there was no way Toprak's late braking, stoppie style would translate to a MotoGP bike; he'd end up being chucked off if he tried to do that.

As you've said, there's no way he could adapt and be up with the top MGP boys in one test. A hiding for nothing.

The other thing to take into consideration is Jarvis's experience with Ben Spies - he got burnt once, I doubt he wants to get burnt a second time.
