Harley Davidsons

Post by Demannu »

Was doing a little Spannering on a shovelhead.
Simple job, replace the check valve.
I wonder if whoever designed the engine had any experience in engineering, or was possibly high on drugs.
Enormous amounts of unused space, gaps that you can lose screwdrivers in!
Yet this thing, a slotted screw! Not even a bolt head, and of course the exhaust header/pushrod tubes were in the way, so had to use a stubby with another through the handle for leverage to get the damn thing loose.
Something that could have been a 2 minute took an hour. Grrrrr

They gave some fuzzy felt to primary school kids and asked them what a motorbike should look like.

People describe HD as being agricultural.
That's quite unfair, to tractors!

Take heart, it's the same on the new M8 engines, changing the battery is a 30 - 45 minute ordeal, fitting a simple cruise control switch (swapping out the LH switch gear) requires the petrol tank to come off
