Post by wull »

The opening day of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship R&G Official Test was hampered by wet conditions as limited track action took place at Oulton Park.

Many riders opted to sit out the first day, looking ahead tomorrow’s second day when conditions are expected to improve.

The Bennetts British Superbike Championship contenders were back on track at Oulton Park for the R&G Official Test this morning as conditions improved and the teams and riders continued their preparation for the May Bank Holiday event (April 29 – May 1).

The times tumbled during the opening session after weather hampered yesterday’s running and Haslam and the ROKiT BMW Motorrad Team ended the opening action with a 0.187s advantage over Glenn Irwin on the BeerMonster Ducati.

Tommy Bridewell was third ahead of Kyle Ryde after the pair had been in the leading two positions early in the session with Josh Brookes completing the top five for FHO Racing BMW Motorrad.

Jason O'Halloran was sixth fastest for McAMS Yamaha, edging ahead of Lee Jackson on the Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki and Peter Hickman completed the top eight. Danny Kent and Dean Harrison.

The weather yes, lean angle and general riding ability……no 😂

Those jackets are superb, I’ve got the Alpinestars one, brilliant bit of kit, hardly ever use it now. I bought a full rain suit as well, hard to move when that’s on.

It's a pity the weather's been rubish as I was planning on watching, but it's still proper windy around here in West Lancs & I can't see it being much better at Oulton Park.I wonder what aspect of the bike's set up they'll be concentrating on?

Don't know about Oulton, but it's bloody cold and wet here this week. Horrible conditions for watching, nevermind racing.

It's only twenty minutes away for me but I'm not bothering going, the weather's all over the place around here today - wind, rain spells. And yesterday was a definite no!

The McAms Yamaha mechanics have a busy time ahead as both riders lobbed the bikes today. O’Hallorans was destroyed and they had to use a second bike (available for tests not race weekends) and Neave was taken to medical for check over

Ps , weather here is sunshine but a little windy as the rain that’s been falling here seems to arrive overnight, dump heavily, then clear off to the sea

Kyle Ryde returned to the top of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship times in the second session of the R&G Official Test at Oulton Park this afternoon as the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha team set the pace before a red flag.

Ryde had recaptured the leading position from Glenn Irwin on the BeerMonster Ducati by 0.299s when the session was red flagged in the final two minutes when Luke Mossey crashed out unhurt at Druids.

Tommy Bridewell completed the top three on the second of the BeerMonster Ducatis whilst Peter Hickman led the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad charge in fourth, just ahead of his teammate Josh Brookes.

Dean Harrison had a strong showing in sixth place for DAO Racing Kawasaki ahead of Leon Haslam, who had topped the earlier session for the ROKit BMW Motorrad Team. Danny Kent was eighth after a small crash at Lodge in the opening stages of the session, with Mossey in ninth. Jason O'Halloran also bounced back from an earlier crash at Shell to complete the top ten for McAMS Yamaha.
