Don't worry about all that rev counter bollocks. I'd have had them on the brakes and ganned it reet over.

So smooth...
I was enjoying a session out on the track at the Paul Ricard, and thought I was doing fairly well - only a couple of bikes had come past me...
...then a GSX-R750 (back when 750 was the superbike class limit) came past me on slicks, round the outside whilst I was just touching my knee down, like I was standing still and upright.

This reminds me of a mate who did a trackway with Simon Crafer as one of the instructors, he was really showing up the fast group on a stock blade and everyone was looking at his bike wondering how he was so quick on a stock machine and muttering about special tyres when he walked up and said he was picking his "special" tyres out of the tyre skip!

Ron Haslam used to do that with someone on the back at his eponymous race school Not even on slicks AFAIK, just a stock 'blade. The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 12:03 am ...then a GSX-R750 (back when 750 was the superbike class limit) came past me on slicks, round the outside whilst I was just touching my knee down, like I was standing still and upright.

His onboards on the K46 are incredible, traction control and abs switched off so he can back it into the corners and drift out of them, I’ll go find a vid. One out lap to warm up then banzai.

Does anyone remember (or have a link to) that old video of some fast group trackway at Cadwell with a load of Gixxers getting their knees down when some old dude on a classic Norton or whatever comes streaming past them all through Hall Bends?

Maybe. I think the video was somebody else's, mounted to their bike. Was all just a normal stream of bikes and then you heard a low rumble from behind and this old thing just flew past and carved a path through several sportsbikes. Very funny. But can't find it.

There was an ex racer on a Harley who challenged ordinary Joes to beat his lap time. It was one of the national circuits.

I have told this one before but I was lucky enough to be at Snetterton when Mick Doohan was the guest instructor at one of Tony Scott’s trackdays. The local Honda dealer provided a stock Fireblade for him to use and he was on track with some National Ckass racers on tuned race bikes and slicks.
Doohan went out on road tyres, warmed them up in a lap and proceeded to make the rest look like a Novice group. I stood on the pit wall as he came along the straight, the brake light briefly came on then threw it into turn 1 around the outside of a few other.
He was amazing to watch and it was the first time he had seen the circuit as he said he had never even heard of it before being invited along. He even signed my old Arai lid for me

I was at Blyton the weekend Christian Iddon had his Supermoto debut back in 2003 or so. There were five groups E through to A, the system being top 3 go up, bottom 3 go down after each race.
After race one, I think, they just figured, well, A group for Iddon then...
