I can still access bank statements electronically.

I suppose statements are a lot longer these days as debit cards get used for so many more small payment compared to a few years ago. I can't remember the last time I saw a minimum payment amount for card.

If you're gonna scam Greenie, do it in the first couple of weeks in the month. That way the dodgy transactions will all appear in the bottom 60% of his statement ;)

Mr. Dazzle wrote: Tue Mar 28, 2023 3:58 pm I keep hearing on the radio about various banking apps which will tell you how many subscriptions you're paying etc. Obviously it's quite a common thing to not know.

I know though ;) I could tell you every DD which comes from account and how much it is.
Surely every bank has this - they're called 'statements' aren't they?
They were in 1997, yeah.
You forgot 'Grandad' Must try harder.

I couldn't list them nor state the amounts of my direct debits, standing orders and subscriptions but I'd know a wrong one if I saw it.

I've watched and chosen to help various people as they drop down in to debt related problems, most of them seemed to take a perverse pride in not managing their money because it was boring or time consuming.

Funnily enough, I'm doing a trial at the moment. I've had Apple News for years so thought I'd try Readly to compare. Lots more content but no desktop app and the stuff it has that Apple doesn't isn't really much use to me so I'll probably end up sticking with Apple News.

But in terms of value/choice, Readly's very good. Worth trying out.

Coming back to this old chestnut - Is discovery + worth having? Is Paramount + worth having?

I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Freeview as my TV access - would I gain much? :eh:

Something I've pondered at times is if you read, for example, the biography of Robert Falcon Scott is how people like that managed to achieve so much. The answer is of course that they weren't sitting in front of the telly. To the question of is Paramount + worth having is, get a proper hobby and stop sitting in front of the TV. Unless you're in your 80's then I apologise.

He's got a point.
My brain is mush after most days of work so it's all too easy to collapse on the sofa and vegetate for a few hours before bed and doing it all again.

We have: (shared between us)
Spotify
Tv licence
Netflix
Apple TV
Apple music
Sky, +Sports (for the F1)
Disney+
Prime

I think this place is the only online subscription i have, but, despite being over 50 years of age, I'm still a geek with the mental age of 12, so i also subscribe to 2000AD, The Megazine and Commando, (digital editions)

Not if you have to pay for it.
It's got a lot of Star Trek which is good, and Yellowstone + spin offs which are enjoyable, but if I had to pay I'd not have it.

I've got:

TV Licence
Amazon Prime
Spotify

Haven't used the last 2 for months and Prime was only a side benefit of the fast delivery thing. Haven't switched the TV on for a while. Think I might cancel Spotify and work my way through the CD collection.

Gone back to radio and books apart from stuff like the Olympics.
