I think sometimes things should all align for a good experience. A few weeks ago I went out with new skis and it was shocking. Mentally not a good place, someone had made me worry about the skis (cos mentally I was messed up ), skiing solo which sometimes I love but probably Needed a buddy that day etc etc. Conditions have not been good most of this year on the days I have been off work, so I pretty much gave up. But the lure of skiing on a Saturday and a bluebird Saturday too was too much! And I had a ski buddy to watch my back!

BLOODY. LOVED. IT!!! Feel like I have life back again! LOL

For me, part of the reason I love skiing so much is the similarities with bikes - mentally its all very similar; proper gear, similar thought processes, watching out for random loonies!! And the muscles that ache when I've not skied for a while are the same as the ones that always hurt after a trackday! Works for me - skiing in winter, motorbikes in summer!! :D :D :D

The mental link between bikes and ski-ing is why I think I should enjoy both. I don't have the stance and balance for ski-ing, or at least that's how it seems to me.

It's bad enough hearing a recording of your own voice, to see yourself walk, or in my case something between a lurch and a trudge, is depressing.

I like skiing but I'm a liability and go much faster than I should for my ability, pretty much the same as me on a motorbike but I'm less likely to take other people out on a bike.
Snowboards were fun until I found out they don't go fast enough.

Cider - port - rum - food - good times with good mates - mainly in that order!

Ply lined my bus floor on top of the ply lined floor. Watched Celtic bear Rangers again (Title winning game) and went back to the bus to wire in my loo

Played golf this morning, did some family stuff after and now back home. Kick back and relax watching the bikes and golf.

I have to meet someone from Tx at the RockStore this morning. He's on a West Coast tour on his Trumpet Tiger (at least I think that's what he has) He said he's be there about 9.30. Buggerlugs here was up/attem by 6.15 & 3xS'd by 6.30. It's now 7.30 & I'm about ready to leave. Forecast today is 85deg, but as I live up in the High Desert it's only 43deg right now.
Sky is Severe Clear up here, but foggy down the hill.. so at some point today I'm going to be under-dressed for the conditions or over-dressed for the conditions or perfectly dressed for the conditions. Gonna be a long day as a mates band is playing at my *local* about 70 miles away this afternoon.

Been into town and parted with quite a bit of Turkish Lira. Paid for my Residency Permit - 3120 TL and got a new screen on my mobile phone - 2000 TL (my own fault, I didn't realise that the screen would come off worse when interacting with my fat arse) and 300 TL to get a fridge/coolbox electrics repaired (works fine on 12V but didn't work on 220V and I failed to find the fault).

So 5400 TL just gone but at 22.3 TL/£ not really that painful.

Had to wait for the bloody phone to be repaired though. There's not much to do in Marmaris to kill the time except drink tea. I drank a lot of tea.

Kicked the Bonneville into life.

I didn't wake up this morning thinking I'd do that, mostly cause it was pissing it down

This afternoon though the sun was out, so I thought I'd drag her out and see if anything else needs adding to my mental list of jobs (every classic owner has one of course). She seems in pretty decent order actually.

Thought I might as well give her a prod, after a few kicks we were away. As always i was taken aback by the explosion of noise :D

Did a cheeky 20 miles without issue just to see how it went  Still way faster than any 54 year old bike with cable operated brakes has any right to be. Still the biggest grin machine I've owned.

First ever cote de beouf tonight!! Went out with a mate thinking, nice simple meal. But nooo. The French was horrified that I'd never had that much beef in one meal (have lived here 5.5 years and its my 10th winter, first Cote de Beouf!!) and also excited that this particular restaurant cooks said beef on an open fire!!

Bloody hell that was good!! Had a fab evening of chat in French and English, a LOT of laughs (especially when I described me walking around trying to get the pronunciation of 'toute' correct   As in 'a toute' - it's ooooo, not u! One of a few sounds I am really struggling with!! LOL So I normally say 'a plus' now

That is my Christmas meat option on the years when it's just the three of us...I'm the only meat eater!

That cut (or slight variations) goes by a few names, but Cote du Boeuf is my fave. Makes you sound less like someone who drives a pick up truck.

Dropped by the vinyl wrap place about covering (part of) the front fender on the ZX.
Stopped off the buy winning lottery tickets on the way home.
Later:
WallyWorld for food & some epoxy filler for the divot in the ZX11 fender
Wiped fender down with IPA to get it clean for epoxy tomorrow, damage looks must less severe when clean. Plan for now is epoxy, sand it, black Sharpie.
