His car was satisfyingly fubar’d, fluid leaks, bumper completely hanging off, bonnet scratched up and making terrible squealing noises as he drove away.

It's a modern(ish) car, they're designed to crumple up to protect the pedestrian they just hit... the 'prilla is a little more robust than a sack of meat and bones.

I know impossible to spot all the damage in a photo, but the bike seems to have taken it amazingly well. I've got my fingers crossed it's just a plate hanger you need.

I wasn't going to report it to the police as I thought that you only did that if someone got hurt. Googled though and they want you to report it if you think an offence has occurred. Given he wasn't paying attention and it was only luck that I didn't get hurt I thought fuck it and have reported him. Seems silly not to have though about it before as accidents do happen but a basic requirement, as I pointed out to the guy, is to look out of the big window at the front of the car when driving.

Absolutely right. The fact you were unhurt didn't result from any favour the driver bestowed upon you.

She was fine, she didn’t hang around when she saw him hit me which was slightly galling. We were no where near her when we stopped.

I was in a 30 doing about 20 and slowed down to let an old lady cross the road and this fuck tard drives in to me.

I’m fine. I’ll have to get the bike inspected. Really fucking annoyed.

Glad you're OK mate that's the main thing. Hope the bike is OK but bikes are replaceable, our bodies less so. Good luck

The insurance process has started and my insurers have said that rather than claiming on my insurers they'll just go straight to theirs for now as it looks like a clear cut no fault claim. The bike should be picked up later this week. The different scenarios explained to me are...

1. bike is deemed unrepairable, chassis bent etc - I'll get the full value of the bike
2. bike is deemed unrepairable due to cost so maybe the subframe is scratched or bent and they can't get new bits in a reasonable time or they're prohibitively expensive - I should be able to choose whether to get the full value or a decent settlement and I can repair it myself with 2nd hand bits
3. bike can be repaired with new bits (they won't use 2nd hand bits) and the other insurance company pays for that

I don't really mind how it gets sorted as long as I'm not out of pocket. If pressed I'd like the bike back with a decent settlement so I could simply buy another exhaust as it was too loud anyway.

Might take a few weeks but I have other bikes. Either way I'll end up with this Tuono back or another one.

Sounds like it should get sorted one way or another and as you say you have other bikes luckily so at least you can get out on the bike over spring whatever. Good luck with the claim.

I checked my mirrors like a good boy and he was miles behind. Must have been on his phone or something.
That's shit.

Count yourself very lucky it was only at 30. Similar happened to me, but the twat was doing 60, i ended up flat on my back on the road, and the bike (K1200R) was a write off. The impact actually bent the swingarm enough that the driveshaft inside was trapped solid.

The real pisser was that the cops completely shunned any suggestions concerning his driving ability, or lack thereof.
