Remapping recommendation near(ish) Newbury

Does anyone have any recommendations for remapping services for a KTM near Newbury or within an hour or so?

I've emailed a couple of places but I don't know why they have email contacts listed as they don't seem to respond to them so I'd rather have a recommendation than phone round them all if possible.

What was the deal with Hilltop? Wasn't there a load of stuff about them not providing the services paid for or was that just internet bullshit?

Basically there's a large contingent who say he cannot do what he says he does as the software can't, his equipment can't and he's full of shit.

I took my 690 there and i swear, it was a lot better... but i'm just a bloke who knows very little.

From what little I know,he was caught on selling a generic flash and stating it was set up on a dyno and bike specific.

Maybe not such a huge thing,but shifty anyway.

I imagine it worked out fine most of the time as it was mostly generic bikes. People do like to dyno things that they haven't modified in any way.

Hilltop used to get glowing reviews on the gs forum for their remaps sorting out the jerky throttle response on the 1150gs.

I think the death knell for Hilltop was when he was set up by some people who dynoed a F800 and then took it to him to be remapped. They came back and dynoed it again only to find it was exactly the same everywhere. The bloke pulled Hilltop over it and he said his special software didn't kick in unless the front wheel was turning and the ABS sensed this. The F800 wasn't an ABS equipped model...

Nothing wrong with the 690 at all, i took it because apparently he could smooth out A mode. The later 690 engines are mostly bullet-proof.

My only caveat would be that you won't get a quick email response and phone contact can be sporadic, to say the least.

They do know bikes, though, a very old school approach and they have experience with a vast range of bikes from classic racers, British and Japanese, through current racers and road bikes.

They currently pit crew a classic Suzuki endurance racer for a Belgian guy and also previously looked after his CB1100R racer.

They've done work, including dyno runs, on my old Mille, Tuono, 1100R and the 954 Blade and iirc they are familiar with Woolich kit too. The last couple of times I've been there they have had a couple of Harleys - I kid you not - on the dyno, sorting out fuelling.

It's a nice little ride out from you, Mark, and not that far either.

As I say, though, you'll be waiting a while if you phone or email.

I've had remaps done by Andy at BSD Performance just outside Peterborough and the results were excellent. He got fractionally under 73 bhp out of my Duke 690 R and smoothed out the fuelling in the lower gears. I'd use him again in a heartbeat if I needed a remap.
