Not yet that's for sure. I'm really enjoying finding out things about Ducatis as I've never had one before. Turns out the bike is quiet with a near straight through can on, as it has a servo flapper valve. Its not as good as a EXUP valve but a similar principle. On the Duc its more for noise regs but you will lose some torque if you fit a servo eliminator. I quite like having it there as it reminds me of te old Quill T3 exhaust cans, quiet at lower revs and then progressively louder as you feed in more throttle! 8-)

I never ride at weekends these days, but its sunny out and I really wish I could get out on it. I haven't felt like that about a bike for a long time!

Yeah, i'll go ragging the tits off it through walking pace traffic with myopic pedestrians and cyclists wandering out in front of me! If something isn't great and can easily be improved wtf wouldn't I? People spend fortunes on things like rearsets and brake levers, why wouldn't someone spend time and money on something as fundamental as fuelling? :wtf:

Not sure if you've tried one, but my 675R Street Triple's fueling & low rev's manners are good, plus they're not heavy, could be a good commuter option for you?

My colleague has one, lovely looking bike, but it looks tiny to me? Anyway, more than happy with the Duc for now. I'm just discussing how I'm finding it and putting down what I do tp it. I think that is being mistaken for I don't like it,which certainly isn't the case. Its a keeper! :D

Yes, I second that. I commuted for a year or so, up and down the A1 and Barnet Lane (urgggh) to Elstree, on a 675R street. Really easy to manoeuvre, but the horrible valve train noise got me down in the end.

Still my current commute but with the added hell of a slog to Harrow passed Elstree. Luckily only 1 day a week now though. Switched to a 7am start so actually ok in the car. Getting in for 9 even on the bike was pants

This. I love reading about what people do to their bikes. I doubt I'd do much (main thing for me was the can cos I like a noisy bike!). But I am surprised at how much negativity is happening on this thread. Ok, that unit looks ugly!!! But it's there till you are happy then it will be moved!

Keep on going, loving the fact that you've found something that you love so much (cos I was seriously miffed at you for selling the MT!!!)

I was pretty miffed to have had to let it go, but I never thought i'd buy a Ducati. Sometimes things work out strangely, but well! The MT09 is deffo a bike i'd have another of though. Still in my top 3 bikes I've ever owned!

I was only suggesting he ride his bike on a Sunday as God intended a motorcycle to be ridden, it was meant to be humorous.

Anyway having ridden a motorcycle today, I can safely say my 4 cylinder 750 will both scream along at the redline, and trickle along at walking pace with no throttle response issues or twin cylinder lumpiness 😁

And you should have moved the footpegs on the MT to where they fitted you, it's be easier than sorting out the (non existent) throttle response issues on the Ducati.

Disclaimer - I've not ridden a fuel injected Ducati, so I'm talking out of my arse.

I don't mind, leave at 6.10am but home by 4pm. 50 mins Hertford to Harrow is decent in a car. If I left at 8 it'd probably take nearer 1.30-2hrs.

Fastest was 30 mins from leaving here to sitting at my desk having changed. I might have been doing 120mph on the closed private version of the A1 that day on the Firestorm though :D

I wasn't aiming my comment at you specifically (cos I get the 'as god intended bit' :D :D ) - you just happened to be in the bit I quoted :D

The 414 out of Hertford is a little bit 'private ' at certain times.

Brief update.

SC Project AFM controller works well. I knew it would never cure things completely, but since I dialled it up to 6.5, it certainly proved its worth, with the bike being a lot more rideable. Win!

I find the steering a bit odd, but i think its the tyres? They are Diablo Rosso somthing or others. I feel like they follow every little groove in the road? Are these sticky tyres doing what they should do? Not a problem, just something I've noticed?

I'm getting used to a few of the oddities they are known for and they are annoying me less. e.g. grabby clutch, especially when cold. Very easy to stall. Apparently, some people add another plate, or some clutch kit? Think i'll live with it.

Fork dive is crazy. Always said a SP version of anything is wasted on me, which it probably is, but it would have been nice to have had some adjustability in the front forks for sure! If I ended up keeping it, something would need to be done there.

Brakes feel smooth and progressive but not too powerful like I find some brakes to be. Yet I've had the ABS kick in at low speeds when grabbing the brakes more on this bike than any other bike i've owned? Might be because it makes you ride like a twat! Just as well it has ABS really! :?

By the end of the week, my knee aches, but not too bad. I think the gear lever is too high which isn't helping. Looks like its a bit more involved than just one bolt to adjust, so I'll look into that. But in the main, I'm just stoked I can ride it!

Tis a thirsty beast compared to my MT09. That was high 50s, this is mid 40s. Might be the AFM controller, might be me, might be nature of the beast?

So, will I keep it? Doubt it, but at the moment its certainly not going anywhere! At the moment I'm in love with it. I mean really in love with it. These bikes are an absolute hoot to commute on and I look forward to every ride! Happy days!

The mpg will undoubtedly be affected by the adjusted fuelling. IIRC the emissions testing is done about about 4k, so the OE maps will be very lean at that point, which a) is probably roughly where you ride it anyway, and b) is going to be the cause of the lumpy running at those engine speeds.

Glad you're enjoying it, the steering could be worn tyres.
