That's exactly why mine is flashed.
Edit...do you ever be surprised at your reflection, because you thought you'd see your last bike?
That's exactly why mine is flashed.

Suspension always comes first.
Brakes second.
Ergonomics 3rd.
Only after that will I resort to engine tweaking.
My requirements are also a lot different from yours Terrapin,I don't commute and I avoid riding in traffic as much as I possibly can.
What about when you're riding in town looking at yourself in shop windows? Or is that just me?
My 95 CBR passed the Ulez test (as I never tire of pointing out ) it’s not that great a town bike part from being narrow.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 9:40 amWTF There's a 1984 RD350 on that Ulez list!v8-powered wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 9:22 am IMHO, is it worth trying a carb'd bike as reckon that may suit your riding better but then I guess cause you issues with ULEZ?
EDIT: Looks like there are carb'd bikes that are ULEZ compliant

I never thought there would be a Ulez compliant Old School 2 stroke
I'd never in a million years recommend the Bonnie as a commuter bike, not if you want to actually get to work anyway, but the engine is a peach in the 20-50mph range.Buckaroo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 9:34 amI have to say that my v7 850 runs very well and is predictable. The low down torque that kicks in around 3000 rpm or so makes for a flexible engine in most gears. Position is slightly forward as opposed to sitting upright. I'm biased, but would recommend a demo ride.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 9:08 amI've not tried one yet,but I'm thinking about getting a Guzzi V7 Classic with the 850 motor & reading reviews & watching stuff on YT, people say that the motor's tuned for low down torque & it's all about the 'bottom end'.Not sure if the seating position would suit you but it could be worth a demo ride at some point.
I've changed wheels countless times with one, from 748/916/848/1199 etc I've not had an issue myselfDruid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:03 pm I have one of those paddock stands, I've had a few different bikes with a SSSA and you can buy different pins to suit different bikes. Worth remembering given that you change bikes every couple of months It's fine for cleaning /lubricating the chain but it doesn't feel stable enough to use it if I want to take the wheel off, that's when I use the ABBA stand
I've used the same one on a Speed Triple, a VFR and a 996, no problems at all. Didn't even change the pin or anything.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:23 pmI've changed wheels countless times with one, from 748/916/848/1199 etc I've not had an issue myselfDruid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:03 pm I have one of those paddock stands, I've had a few different bikes with a SSSA and you can buy different pins to suit different bikes. Mine has the same set up options and in all honesty it rarely ever leaves "Sport" mode as thats the feeling i prefer with the stiffer suspension and quicker action throttle set up. Urban is like a low power bouncy castle with the factory settings as its soooo soft. Enduro mode with the complete TC switched off is fun on a loose surface as the bike spins up and drives forwardTaipan wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:44 pm Well, I was not expecting that!! I was expecting some vibey old engine with grabby throttle etc. But its nothing like that. Its quite Japanese feeling? Quite smooth and even tractable. Very easy to ride bike and very enjoyable too.
I did start out in Sport mode and stalled it 3 times trying to pull away! I found it very frantic on the throttle in Sport mode so I pulled over and somehow managed to get it into Urban mode. That was too flat by comparison. So when I pulled over again I managed to get it into Touring mode and I think that's where it'll stay?
I rode my MT09 in A mode all the time and dint have a problem with it at, all. Every other mode just felt laggy?? Early days yet anyway. I cant wait to get back out on it tbh but unlikely to do that until next week...Bigyin wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 9:05 pmMine has the same set up options and in all honesty it rarely ever leaves "Sport" mode as thats the feeling i prefer with the stiffer suspension and quicker action throttle set up. I wanted to but it had pegs at an angle I just couldn't hack. It wasn't for the want of trying though. Shame as I loved it and found it very easy to ride (pore knee op), more so than the Ducati, but I'll get used to it I'm sure. I prefer the look of the Ducati too!weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 9:24 pmYou should've kept thatTaipan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 9:23 pmI rode my MT09 in A mode all the time and dint have a problem with it at, all. It's a simulation system. I sit on it just to feel what it's like to be talented.
It's both a blessing and a burden
I've got one of those for my 1200 Monster. I don't completely trust it, it always feels like the the bike can rock from side to side too much. I stick a front paddock stand on to keep it more "secure".Taipan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 7:34 pm The Remus exhaust is with DPD and hopefully here tomorrow or Friday. Will try to get it, and the fuel controller, fitted before Monday. Realised I don't have any way of getting up in the air so bought a paddock stand which should also be here by the weekend! You can use an ABA stand with one, but it seems a bit sketchy about how good it is, maybe move footpegs etc, so I CBA and bought one of these.
