Re: Should the UK grow up and seriously restrict alcohol use/ownership
Scotland and Northern Ireland were the UK constituent countries with the highest alcohol-specific death rates in 2021, with 22.4 and 19.3 deaths per 100,000 persons, respectively. England and Wales continue to have lower rates of alcohol-specific deaths, with 13.9 and 15.0 deaths per 100,000 persons, respectively.

I forgot the important one, sorry.
In 2017 there were 10,874 people killed in alcohol-impaired- driving crashes, an average of 1 alcohol-impaired-driving fatality every 48 minutes. These alcohol- impaired-driving fatalities accounted for 29 percent of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities in the United States in 2017.

I've two close friends who died way before their time, booze was a big part of why that happened. Neither of them had low IQ, arguably both had depression. I'm pretty sure without freely available booze they'd have found some other way to off themselves.
I quite like a glass of wine and it certainly brightens up a Friday.

Makes me laugh, next they will start to try and ban tourists in the coffeeshops, how long have they been trying to do that for, 30 years?Horse wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 9:00 amDo you still see yourself as 'young'?

The dutch are just as bad. I have been to a few darts tournaments in Rotterdam and the football hooligans are more mental than here in the uk. I remember getting the train to the Ahoy stadium and it rocking left and right on the tracks as almost 100% of the train was chanting football songs and going pretty mental.
There was also a massive fight there that year in the stadium with chairs being thrown the lot, that was the last time for me, it was just to 'football' for my liking, i hate football with a passion.
I think they need to look in the mirror before pointing the finger at us brits.

Perhaps we should ban depression ?DefTrap wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:33 am I've two close friends who died way before their time, booze was a big part of why that happened. I could've picked either, but your poll options were that fucking ridiculous that this seemed the best place to start.
I mean, you could have made a bit of an effort instead of starting off with a complete bell-end of a set of options

Probably because a can of Red Stripe hasn't walked into yet another school in the US and killed 6 people?

How many cans of Red Stripe , accompanied by a human, have killed people in a school massacre?

Hysterical. However it fucked up any chance of a sensible debate.. But you don't seem interested in a debate anyway as you've very very blinkered on the subject and won't go for anything other than "anyone who drinks is an idiot"... So really what's to debate ? you've already made your mind up.Potter wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:03 amIt’s humour to make a point.

Every time someone tries to buy a drink, the barman should give them a gun instead.
