I'm sure a busa is fine, but if you want easy to use and learn tracks on and a bike that is very forgiving you can't go wrong with a royal enfield or africa twin. Both make great bikes for learning race tracks on

Funny how Yorick says a 'Busa quickly reaches limits on a track, and you then happen to immediately post a video of a 'busa being spanked around a circuit by an ex WSB champion and Moto GP rider. A video that would make it seem that a 'busa is a great track bike who's limits take a hell of a lot to reach ('cos it goes fast around a track with an ex WSB rider on it - **shocker**). Of course you were only showing how fun a 'busa can be on track, and in no way were you trying to suggest that what Yorick said was nonsense.

If you were clever, I'd believe you, but the fact that you've admitted a 'busa is a shit track bike says it all.

I think it is completely relevant and you've missed , or just ignored the point- it's a trackday, not a race, and trackdays are about fun- for most people I know anyway.
Yeah, I don't see anyone buying a Busa purely as a track-only bike to chase ultimate laptimes on, but they are very capable, and of course, not everyone who does trackdays does more than one or two a year, or has a track day-only bike do they?

Yeah , it's pretty much certain that Guintoli on a Busa would ride rings around any of us on here ( possibly even Yozza ) , irrespective of what we were on, but Busas are not shite at going around a track IMO - yep they have limitations from ground clearance and the aspects that weight brings , but many bikes do.
I rode my my mate's ( a Gen 1) at Catalunya, Almeria, and Cadwell and it was the opposite of a disappointment to me, hence I rode it more than once. - it was a lot more capable than I expected it to be ( I was jumping off an R1 onto it each time ) and I loved my time on it, even at Cadwell.

For me @Horse made a very good point, but I'm still not sure what your points are - other than wanting to pick a scrap with Wull!

If you want to just have fun, then ride a 'buss, and I've not disagreed with that. if you want a bike to develop your skills on a track day, a 'bussa isn't it. I'm not sure how much clearer I need to make that.

Absolutely, I mean that’s the whole point of it, the whole point of the video, it’s merely suggesting that any bike can still be fun on track regardless of whether it’s a well suited track bike or not.

Fwiw, I rode a 690ktm on track dozens of times, which some would say is inappropriate, especially at places like Silverstone, but I loved it.

I did my first ever trackday on a Blackbird - the last trackday I did was on a KTM390Duke with a lot more experience.

I can honestly say that both were a shit ton of fun and I loved both days on those bikes. I also used a TLs and a ZX10r on track.

But the days that really stick are, TBH, the ones on the BB and the 390 - just cos they were a little ridiculous! Everyone told me I was stupid to take the BB on track, but it was my only bike, so I took it! I had friends that tracked BBs in inters and fast with a lot of success!! The little 390 was a hoot because, having only ridden big bikes before that, I could really ride the dinkytoy to it's limit everywhere and not scare myself shitless!! (I was generally a whisker away from scared out of my mind on the ZX10r!!)


Any bike is a track bike if you take it to a track. How much fun you get from it depends on your expectations I guess. I would have loved to have had a go on a Busa on track, but I reckon the BB handled better than the Busa would have

We’re all different, the Africa twin at Donington was the most fun I’ve had on track in years. Every session I came in grinning like a kid as it was so much fun. There were others coming in frustrated as they weren’t getting the best from their bikes, they had to faff with warmers for their slicks while I put the kettle on. Obvs others that loved the bike they were on too. But plenty could learn in the lower groups that the bike is irrelevant if fun is your priority.

Of course I do sometimes like to take a much more suitable bike on track, here’s my 1090 adventure
