It's to distract the viewer from the mirrors.

I like it. Some bits I'd change (mirrors), but overall I like it

Re: SUPERCHARGED TRIUMPH THRUXTON 1200 R
The bike would look much, much better without its main feature - the supercharger. Strip all the blower-related bollocks off the bike and it would weigh a lot less and look way better. Sort out the seat and junk the bar end mirrors and I'd be quite happy to own it.
Superchargers (and to a lesser extent, turbos) just don't work aesthetically on a bike. They always wind up looking bulbous and unbalanced. There's simply nowhere to hide all the belts, pulleys, pipework and blowers/chargers. On a car you can actually make a feature of it, on a bike it just looks gash.

It's probably just me at my time of life looking at it and thinking would I fancy it? And concluding that the base bike would make more sense to me and look a whole lot better. But even the 'base' bike has been blinged up from standard, hasn't it? Pretty sure the wheels, headlight and zorsts aren't OE.
