(obviously they just tarred and chipped it again - but at least someone thought to nick a garden roller from somewhere to attempt to press the chippings in before they hoiked back off to the nearest cafe).




As an aside - is it wrong to gleefully observe idiot drivers fixing their punctured tyres / broken wheels because they drove at 'normal' speeds through massive 'puddles'?? (asking for a friend).

Only if they claim not be have been able to avoid it as they didn't spot it quickly enough. That could have been a baby you murderer. Slow down. If it saves one life...

Yes because I've knackered 3 tyres this winter but thankfully no wheels.
I was driving slower than usual but even 30mph on a dark country lane turned out to be too fast.

CSV's don't contain any formatting, but will open generally in whatever spreadsheet software you are using.

They are generally sent as excel files. I will check this next time, but pretty sure they are excel. My computer opens them in 'numbers' and my colleague as excel on her iMac - same reaction with both

I think the problem starts with you trying to print them on A4, why?

Because I need a hard copy of the main one. TBF, it's only the one I have to print, but that's the most annoying with all the unnecessary bloody spacing between names and ages.

The others I open on screen to check info between that and our system - because all the columns are wayyyyy too wide for the text, I can't see the sheet and our system side by side until I have resized everything.

Are they the same information, every time?

If so, create a suitable blank sheet. Send it to clients, explaining why it would be better if they could use it.

But consider whether it realistic and easy to use for them too.

If so, create a suitable blank sheet. Send it to clients, explaining why it would be better if they could use it.

Too many different (French) companies!! TBF, at least I'm getting the info we need, but it just peeves me a smidge everytime cos I'd never send a shit spreadsheet out!! LOL

New guests arrive on Saturday so the chef requested we shop today.

7 bloody 15 am I had to set my alarm for !!!
Down to Chambery. We get meat at the market and cheese at the specialist, all good so far. We pop into Albertville on the way back to get fruit and veg. It's a full trolley load and the lady is ringing it through the till and then with just 5 items left to process.... The power cuts, for the whole building. Then someone points out that the building next door has no lights on. It soon becomes apparent that French protesters have somehow managed to cut the building to the ENTIRE industrial estate and maybe beyond !!

We waited for 30 minutes and the power was not back on. The shop supervisor apologised but said we couldn't buy anything. I even offered €300 in cash to let us take what we had. Sadly, his boss wouldn't allow it. Everything comes back out the trolly and we decide to go home. But wait, what's this, why is there traffic everywhere??.

Well it seems the protesters have also blocked access to the main road. Which is particularly annoying as the main road is the ONLY road that goes in the direction we want!!. Time for a JodyHack. Some years ago I discovered a rough as F forest road that runs perpendicular to the main road. We struggle with the traffic for an hour and eventually we are on the forest road. Approximately 3 KM in the road is blocked, like proper blocked, 3ft high concrete barriers and mounds of earth/ rubble. The 4wd Caravelle is good, but it ain't getting through that, winter tyres or no winter tyres!

We make our way back to join the traffic and we wait, we wait, we wait some more. Eventually approx 2.5 hours after the trouble started the traffic is now moving again. We realise that the sensible thing to do is go back to the shop that had the power cut and buy the shizzle we need.

The bill is €280 ish (should have took my €300 !!) and we eventually get back to Courchevel over 3 hours later than expected.

I appreciate people want to protest (retirement age going from 64 to 67). I appreciate that protests are supposed to cause disruption. I just wish we had decided to shop tomorrow and avoid all that shite !

I do sort of understand the protests, but most French I've spoken to up here think that they shouldn't protest and 67 is not unreasonable (dependant on job i guess, although half my ski instructor friends are that sort of age!! LOL).

As I have a patent distrust of insurance companies, I read their policy documents. I note this clause,

Excluding Theft Unless Security Device Is Fitted
We will not pay any theft claim under section 1 of the policy booklet unless the declared security device fitted or applied to your vehicle, is in working order and has been correctly attached and switched on before the theft happened.

I declared an Almax 19mm chain with Squire SS65CS Stronghold Lock when parked at home. But the policy says they won't pay out unless the chain is fitted whenever its left, or at least hats how I interpret it. I specifically told Bennetts its only fitted when at home as I have a different chain at work and use a disc lock when out. But they tell me whatever the declared device is, it must be fitted or don't declare a device at all. If you upgrade your locks without telling them, you'd still lose out as its not the declared device. I suspect a lot/most of you know this, but just in case, you might want to check your policy.
