Those excesses must be something to do with the previous theft/recovery bike as i have never had compulsory excesses like that on any bike policy. The Motor Insurance Database shares all information between the insurance companies.
Like KFB i set mine to 0 and the max i have had on any compulsory ones are about 2-300 quid

Associated to what though? I used his post code and picked a random house, using my name.
But I wouldn't think their site would know all historical info?

I have protected NCD, does anyone else have that? Also moto legal protection but that's only about £30.

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
My only thought is when the bike was recovered even though there wasnt a theft claim the police may have informed the insurance company of the recovery as part of the crime report conclusion and that theft/recovery is linked to Tiepins data ....dunno, just strange the costs are so highweeksy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 7:26 pmBigyin wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 7:24 pm Those excesses must be something to do with the previous theft/recovery bike as i have never had compulsory excesses like that on any bike policy. Don't worry about all that excess bollocks. Get third party only and register it on a Q plate.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 7:14 pm Fuck me, look at the excesses!
I usually set the voluntary to £0 for doing quotes and if the compulsory is over £250 they can jog on!

Those quotes won't be high cos of protected NCB. My bike is insured for £8k, 2020 bike, 4k miles a year inc commuting and protected NCB, in Hertford and it was £140 this year. I have £0 voluntary, £250 compulsory excess I think.
Those quotes do seem really high, especially as Weeksy gets such a different result at your place

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
Dropped the 60 mile a day commute with 6 weeks holiday and no private mileage into here https://comcar.co.uk/amc/ and it comes out at 11008. So the 12k a year is needed.Rockburner wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 4:49 pmLooks like it might be worth at least estimating it, and then adding a small amount on for weekend riding.Taipan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 4:13 pmI'll look at it later but I do 60 miles a day, 4 days a week. I get quite a bit of annual leave though (6 working weeks minimum) and certain days we get off on top of that as well. My mileage might not be as high as I think and clearly dropping it down 2k makes a difference...Rockburner wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 4:01 pm Your commuting mileage is probably too high.
Don't know what your door to door distance is, but when I was doing 55 miles each way virtually all year the annual mileage came out at around 23,000 (iirc).
If I remember correctly the calc was something like 5 days of journeys, over 48 weeks (allows for holidays) = 48* (5*110) = 26400, and then take off a month or two for winter. (I sometimes trained it in the depths of winter)
60mile * 4day * 46weeks = 11040miles. Add on a few thousand for weekends and I@d estimate your mileage at 15k a year tops, so your 12k (is that what you reckoned?) isn't far off actually.

Work from home or retire, owning a Hypermotard is more important than commuting, if you haven't got a garage for it, keep it in the front room.

If I didn't commute, I wouldn't have it. I have no use for a motorbike as a toy.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 9:34 am Work from home or retire, owning a Hypermotard is more important than commuting, if you haven't got a garage for it, keep it in the front room.

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
Bike arrives Friday. I just found out we're puppy sitting my sisters pup, which means I am as I'm the one working from home. We're out Saturday daytime and have people over for a roast dinner on Sunday. Monday I'm (hopefully) riding to work on the Tmax so the buyer can collect from my work. Good job its raining or I might be pissed off at the lack of opportunity to ride my new bike!

And yet, you've bought the most toy-like of all motorbikes.Taipan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 10:00 amIf I didn't commute, I wouldn't have it. TBH I bought it thinking that, but now i'mnot so sure. Look at BigYin and the mileages he does on a Ducati as a workhorse. And, to my surprise, there's a lot of high mileage Ducatis out there!Rockburner wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 10:47 amAnd yet, you've bought the most toy-like of all motorbikes.Taipan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 10:00 amIf I didn't commute, I wouldn't have it. For me, the motard version will be easier to manage round town and i've always said the best commuters are motards or scoots. So all in all I reckon this could see August before being sold. Okay. July. Oh FFS you're right, may or June!

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
This lot arrived before the bike! I'm sort of stuck in doors a bit over the weekend, so am tempted to fit the end can and fuel adjuster, but then i won't know what, if anything, its improved? i suppose i should ride it for a bit first?

That would seem logical.
