2nd hand bike condition
As my brother and I were both off today we were going to have a ride but it's pissed down on/off all day
So I drove to his and we went to the new Superbike Factory in Milton Keynes. LOADS of bikes which is good if you wanted say a Panigale or a Monster as there was about 10 of each. But what stuck both of us was the condition of probably around 3/4s of the bikes. They were piss poor. Corrosion, rust, peeling paint etc. This wasn't high mileage shitters but 2-3 year old bikes with sub 10k on them. A case in point was an £11k S1000R with lifting wheel paint and rusty discs/fasteners. Only had a couple of thousand miles on it.
I can only presume that a lot of people don't care about their bikes. Lots looked like they had minimal use but had been ridden in the salt then left. My brother had checked out a couple of bikes in advance and was saying how poor they were compared to the ebay pics.
Don't get how people buy expensive things and just leave em to rot, odd. Also sad to see so many bikes ruined.

Re: 2nd hand bike condition
As far as I'm aware Superbike Factory are the retail outlet for webuyanybike, so by the very nature of the game, they will get all the shitters. I was talking to Paul at Two Wheel Nation and he was scathing about SBF. They have a very poor rep in the trade.

Re: 2nd hand bike condition
The stock levels are ridiculous, when there is that many there is no way they can keep on top of things and supply bikes that are in good condition.
I have seen some shockers from them. It’s when you start to inspect deeper that you see how bad the bikes are.

Rite Bike are the retail outlet for we buy any bike, they insist they are nothing to do with Superbike factory... Although they use the same CRM software. I bought a bike from Rite Bike and some of the notification emails said they were from SBF, when I queried this they implied the vendor had cut and pasted the setup and not removed SBF from some of the templates.

Do the prices reflect the condition?Supermofo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 4:18 pm As my brother and I were both off today we were going to have a ride but it's pissed down on/off all day

I've been to Macclesfield sbf a few times and it's the same there. They don't bother cleaning them either, but they do have a big selection, so try for size and buy from somewhere else.

Re: 2nd hand bike condition
The bike shop round the corner from me is nothing to do with We Buy Any Bike, their 2nd hand bikes aren't great, I don't know why, they've got plenty of staff doing nothing when you go in there, it could be because they're part of a chain of stores.

I've just been on Companies House, Rite Bike and SBF are both related to MAM Automotive, they are the same company pretty much.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 4:40 pm Rite Bike are the retail outlet for we buy any bike, they insist they are nothing to do with Superbike factory... Re: 2nd hand bike condition
Probably a factor,at least.
There is a percentage of new bike owners who come from a car background and have no idea how to look after a bike,or what it takes to keep one in decent order. Salty roads is one example. Car drivers don't hose down their vehicles after a run on gritted roads,so they imagine a bike is no different. On a car all the horrible shit and corrosion is out of sight and out of mind, with a bike you soon learn otherwise, but by then damage is done.
Some others just don't see it. I've looked at bikes with £££s spent on trick carbon bits, etc and every fastener on the bike shows corrosion. I've a hard on for quality bolts,so I hate this one.
Or they could be like a mate,he has an aversion to what he sees as 'keeping it good for the next owner'. In his world, this translates to not giving a schitt.

Yip, the one at Donny is rammed full. They have signs up now asking not to sit on bikes unless with a member of staff. Probably to stop this happening.
I also noticed most were actually in poor condition when you looked close enough.

They're always priced low, but I've heard they lose interest quite quickly if you tell them you don't want to use their finance.

FWIW I worked with a guy who suggested adding vinegar to the final rinse water.

Add that authentic fish supper smell to your bike.

IlRe: 2nd hand bike condition
I had no idea this Superbike place existed...unless it is the one next to Tile Depot etc? Used to just be a kit shop.
I live about 2 mile aways and I went for a lovely walk in the sunshine at lunch today. Dunno much about this "pissing it down" you speak of

I owned BMWs for 39 years, so vinegar would be an improvement

Re: 2nd hand bike condition
I suspect so. Buy a bike on PCP don't look after it and give it back after 2 years.
Not enough imo
Yup most hadn't been washed, looked like they been ridden in and left in some cases.
I noticed their finance. 19%APR

Re: IlRe: 2nd hand bike condition
Light rain Hertford to the A1, then chucked it down. Stopped come Stevenage, then another deluge as I got to Shefford. Was dry as were the roads in MK and on the way back to Shefford after the SBK factory. But after I left my brothers it hammered it down to the point of struggling to see on the A1. Was nice enough in spots that I saw an LC being ridden so ok out of the rain.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 5:42 pm I had no idea this Superbike place existed...unless it is the one next to Tile Depot etc? SBK factory is new in MK I think. It was in MCN the other week. Its not by the Sportsbikeshop if that's what you mean

I've not been to the sportsbikeshop there, but know there is one. I had intended to go there at somepoint but they opened one in Harlow so all good...well apart from being in HarlowMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 5:58 pm Ah right down by IKEA....got ya! Sportsbike Shop is 2 mins up the road.
