I'll take Wera over Wiha, De-Walt, Makita, and especially Milwaukee anyday.

Part of making them last is not using them on the wrong screws cos some people don't know the difference between PZ and PH, that kills em pretty sharpish.

TBH, with the fact that most screws these days seem to be made out of cheese, I'm very careful about using the right screwdriver for anything, even with hands tools.

I've found Lidl screwdriver bits last ages as long as I use the right ones, I've only managed to break one when it shattered in an impact driver.
Some screws don't seem to fit PZ or PH very well which makes me wince when trying to do them up.

The screws at Screwfix are good, their Goldscrew is what I use and they can take a good impact driver. I use all sorts, 5mm diameter and up to 100mm long and impact them in.

Yeah, I've used those and down to about 3.5mm* they're good.
Spax are very good (bloody expensive though) and Reisser a good alternative.
Bullet are good but you're better off using the supplied bits cos its kind of a Phillips/square hybrid and it quickly knackers normal Pozi or Phillips bits.
At about that size tbey seem to have a bit of weirdness and want a PZ 1.5 cos the 1s too small and 2s a bit big.
I suspect my usage is a bit different than most on here though cos some days I might put a thousand screws in and other days none at all, depending on what job I'm doing.

*I can't remember for sure but think its about 3.5mm.

Nipped into my local spot on the way home from work on Friday. As I only had a tenner in my pocket I only bought a moving fillester plane (skewed) and a surform.
But when I went back on Sat so the haul shown is Mathieson plough plane, Skewed Moving Fillester plane, a Jackplane that I can't remember the manufacturer of. It's got a Sorby iron but a lot of manufacturers bought in Sorby irons.

The Moving Fillester plane is by Summers Varvill and has a boxwood infill on the wear zone.

The nicker wedge has broken but its a fairly easy shape to repair and I think I have a bit of Ebony kicking about to make a new wedge out of. Thank fuck its just the nicker wedge cos the main blade wedge looks like a right bastard to copy as its got angles in all directions.

Then theres a coffin smoother, fairly standard fare but OK all the same.

All of them (plus a surform, not shown) were twenty quid. I'm happy with that.

Need to remove one stuck jam-nut on a shower valve. Splurged on a 18 piece set of RocketSockets & a 25 piece Irwin screw extractor set. Long overdue on both counts owing to my habit of "Lemme just try this before I buy those" always working.. up to now. Pics after Amazon show up later.

I'm going to enjoy chucking my horrible motley collection (Christ know where they came from, I have at least six, and they're all crap!) of cheap and nasty triangular scrapers into the bin where they belong ...

Well, I suppose what I really mean is that from memory it was fine and not glaringly bad but I'm not full on Ob-Com ahout it.
