KTM 890SMT

Looks alright. Although I had to laugh at one of the comments on the Friendface article that suggested that KTM's were so unreliable and leaky that KTM stood for Keep Tightening Mate.

Front suspenders look to have a silly amount of travel for a purely road bike... or is it just the smaller wheels making it look odd?

I think it's the fairing that's doing it.

The top box is rather effete.

Also the whole bike looks quite wee and nesh.

I think my mountain bike has burlier forks.

In the MCN article half of the photos seem to show it with the forks from the Adventure and the other half from the Duke, at least in terms of travel.

Looks like a motard to me. How is it uglier than any other? (They all look pretty much the same don't they? :eh: ).

Supermotos are supposed to look aggressive and that looks like a wet fish.

Yeah, but the old SMT was a touring supermoto.

It's like a Cagiva Super City designed by someone who thinks a ruler is a styling tool

I'd be surprised if the eventual styling was anything like any of the iterations shown. The bike is a test mule and the styling won't be finalised until the bike is launched officially. They also seem to evaluating different suspension options, hence different ride heights. I'm just quite pleased that the SMT concept is making a return. It always struck me as one of KTM's better ideas.

Giraffe neck. That headlamp looks like the stretchy guy from the fantastic 4.

KTM aren't the first to make a touring supermoto, the Cagiva Supercity and Gran Canyon predate it by quite a bit.

The Supercity is a 125cc 2T, so hardly comparable and the Gran Canyon's a re-badged Ducati from a time when their reliability was very suspect. You also need to regularly throw cam belts at it, which gets tiresome and expensive. I never claimed KTM were the first to make a touring supermoto, just that I'm glad that the concept is making a return to their lineup.
