You conveniently missed this bit.
But the unprecedented scale of reported casualties fits accounts from both sides that describe recent battles in snow-covered trenches as the deadliest combat of the war to date, despite little progress by either side at the front.
I didn't miss it, it's just irrelevant opinion, not fact.

Unless and until all the bodies are physically counted and verified by reliable independent bodies as being Russian soldiers killed by Ukrainians it's not fact.

BERLIN — Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands plan to deliver at least 100 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine, as Berlin has approved the export of up to 178 tanks.
According to a joint statement from the defense ministers of the three countries, they will provide at least 100 refurbished Leopard 1 tanks of the older A5 type from industrial stocks, with the first ones being delivered within a few months.
Hardly state of the art, but better than nothing I suppose, despite the cost and time in getting these obsolete tanks battle ready. Belgium are considering buying back up to 50 Leopard 1's that it sold off to an arms collector for €37,000 each in 2014, repairing them and sending them to Ukraine.

Strictly speaking he's a speculator/arms dealer rather than a collector. :D Big gamble though, knowing he'd need German authorisation to sell them on to another country. Worth a few bob as scrap but not €37k!

There's a heck of a lot of work needs doing to them. He wants a profit on each of them and the list of stuff (inc new engines for many) is going to be €€€s.

Under the guise of humanitarian aid it looks like French retailer Auchan has been having collections to help equip Russian soldiers.
Have they no shame?

The Russian army has spent months building comprehensive fixed defensive lines out of the range of weapons such as Ukrainian operated HIMARS.

However the UK has today announced, with the support of the US and NATO no doubt, that it will now supply Ukraine with longer range weapons. Others will no doubt do the same.

Looks like Russia has been suckered.

The leaker of secret US intelligence documents has been identified.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/13/worl ... ntity.html
The leader of a small online gaming chat group where a trove of classified U.S. intelligence documents leaked over the last few months is a 21-year-old member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.

The national guardsman, whose name is Jack Teixeira, oversaw a private online group called Thug Shaker Central, where about 20 to 30 people, mostly young men and teenagers, came together over a shared love of guns, racist online memes and video games.
Fallout from this intelligence leak is that in the event that Ukraine's expected military push to regain its territory including Crimea fails, then the US as a result of its intelligence leak could be seen to be responsible. So the US will have to double down on its support for Ukraine to ensure the success of the expected military push ...

FTFY... The documents sure shoot a bunch of holes in the official US narrative.
Was watching the local LA news today & they gave a rather detailed description of Ukraine's upcoming combat plans. OpSec anyone? FFS.

Whistle-blowing is reporting things to the appropriate authorities not blabbling about stuff to a bunch of your swivel eyed geek 'mates' on a chat forum.

I guess HR/the vetting team will be getting a hard stare.

It was probably his only outlet, the appropriate authorities would (and probably will now) put him in jail for the rest of his life for exposing American WW3 plans.

The thing I find most peculiar is that an Air Force reservist would have access to any info like that.

I honestly don’t know, IME they’re usually pretty good with ‘need to know’ but I assume they also have low ranking admin type functions that need to move information around, so some quite junior ranks have access to information that is sensitive.

As a bloke on the ground I only knew what I needed to know to get my job done, but a movcon admin (movement controller) who was probably a Pte (or a lance-jack at most) would have known where everyone was and how it was being coordinated by the CO.

Obviously the documents should have been safely stored in a garage that a known drug addict has access to & next to a Corvette
