I drive past a sign for the Sheffield clean air zone, fortunately it also has an arrow pointing in another direction and 3 miles on it.

At present it's pretty toothless if you're a private individual and don't drive an HGV. None of our vehicles are affected and all but one are over 15 years old. Nothing to see here, move along.

In the past I just thought of it as a London problem, but Greater Manchester tried to bring it in last year.I'm in rural West Lancs but Greater Manchester starts about 13 miles away so it's now on my radar.Likewise if I go to France & have to go near certain urban areas I need a Crit Air sticker so emission classes will affect any future motorcycle purchases :wtf:

I would suggest a Fazer 600 as I have one and it’s a brill little bike for what you are after …… it doesn’t comply with Khans money making scheme in that London village but easily pick up a decent one for under 2K

They have it in Portsmouth where my parents live...but it doesn't apply to residents, who must surely make up the vast majority of drivers.

You could get a grom. Would a right laugh and you could put it in a locker at the station.

Faceberk, it's got flat bars and needs a little work, and it's very yellow.

Ulez doesn't apply to me either, but it's something that urban areas are bringing in all over Britain, that's why I mentioned it
City problems for city people, who cares.
People who live near cities or otherwise need to drive to them?
Not my problem then, I don't think I've ridden a motorcycle in a city since 2003

I go on Liverpool dock road a couple of times per annum for the bike MOT,& it's usually my choice of port for the Isle of Man.
Likewise if I'm going across the channel I usually go via Portsmouth & they've got a clean air zone, then if I'm heading to France they've have a few 'Crit air Zones'.
Maybe we should start a post on the emission zone subject?

Probably, I think if I were to go abroad I'd use the Channel Tunnel now, my experiences of ferries weren't great
