What bike/scoot for about 2k?
Thinking of selling my ST1050 as hardly gets used and when it does, it's only on the railway station run.
So looking for something sub-2k, not too big or heavy as mainly used across town (or City as we are now!) but needs to be OK for fast A road use still. Happy with a bike or a scoot, but not a Panigale.

Firestorm or a Blandit.
There's a FB selling group for bikes under £1500, there's some great (and terrible) bikes for sale.

You could probably pick up a decent VFR750 for sub-2k.

Re: What bike/scoot for about 2k?
I was going to have a deal with a guy on GSX650F (Blandit with a fairing i beleive?) but he massively overvalued his bike, so bailed on that. I do quite fancy one as a cheapy though.
Have considered another VFR (had a VTEC many years back) but may be that bit too big for what I need it for, but worth a look.

My next door neighbour has just got one, not sure I fancy the riding position though! It's tiny and I'm not!

I did have an F4 for this exact job a few years back and shouldn't have got rid. Sold it and got an NTV700 which lasted a few weeks before hating it more than anything else and getting the ST.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 10:43 amOr a CBR steelie. I replaced one with the other

Suzuki Teapots are incredibly cheap, they're actually pretty good bikes to ride

ZX9R are a great all rounder bike and can be had for around a couple of grand.

Why would any of these bikes be better than the st1050 at what you want it for?

If it's just a cheap hack you're after, some Japanese middleweight.
Do you want to mess around with old carbs or old injection? For 2K I'd look for a Gen 2 SV650,injected,Ulez compliant, lighter than most middleweights & not as desireable to tea leaves as MT 07's or scooters.
If you fancy a UJM 4 cylinder then,CBR,Thundercat or Fazer. Not sure how they score on the emissions though.

Not a bad bike but getting a bit leggy now hence the GSX650F being consideredLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 11:23 am Suzuki Teapots are incredibly cheap, they're actually pretty good bikes to ride
ZX9R probably a bit big and lardy for what I need but interesting. SH300i - not sure that's me but have been looking at the NSS300 Forza but may not get one without galactic miles in budget
Size and weight really - the ST is a great bike but for 6 miles a day in traffic it's a bit lardy, doesn't lend itself to filtering that well and is pretty top heavy too especially with my laptop in the topbox which is mounted really high. I'm not exactly small but have nearly been caught out by it a few times in traffic.
Now how about an NC750X? Was that what @Taipan had previously? Seem to fit the bill reasonably well.....

Re: What bike/scoot for about 2k?
ULEZ bollocks doesn't really apply to me as only use locally, unlikely I'd ever ride to London again. SV probably isn't a bad shout, or a Fazer. Have seen an NC750X that seems to fit the bill too....Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 11:34 am If it's just a cheap hack you're after, some Japanese middleweight.

Ulez doesn't apply to me either, but it's something that urban areas are bringing in all over Britain, that's why I mentioned itv8-powered wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 11:37 am ULEZ bollocks doesn't really apply to me as only use locally, unlikely I'd ever ride to London again. Re: What bike/scoot for about 2k?
The stringency declines when you move way from that London's ULEZ. And they get renamed as CAZ. The Birmingham CAZ is the most stringent of the non-London ones but the one they're introducing in Sheffield in about 10 days time is a pussycat. Private cars aren't affected by it (yet) and neither are bikes. YMMV.
