I got the renewal quote back from BeMoto and it had gone up from £300 to £320.
I phoned them up and said it was too expensive whilst also pointing out they still had the value at what I paid for it new.
Couple of minutes and they got it down to £235.
The cheapest I could get on the comparison sites was £207 without legal cover which BeMoto has standard so I just took it.
85 quid saved by a few minutes on the phone.

Similar to Taipan my mate who lives north of Colchester and commutes to London on his 1290 Adv said it's cheaper to buy a 1290, service it by the book with Jim Aim and run the bike into the floor (over 112k miles now) than it is to get the train. Boggles my mind that.

I used to also regularly commute that same journey (Colchester to Golders Green or Stratford) for many years and it did work out cheaper than the train however, with the A12 being the accident hotspot that it is (East - West route, low dazzling sun etc.) I gave it up and started paying for train tickets. Luckily, I never need to bother with that as I work for a firm of PI solicitors which saves a few quid at least.

That'll be because it's a sought after bike for all the scrotes; we know they love a scoot, and a scoot with a big engine is their idea of heaven.
As for the bloke who pays £500 for a chinese 125, again that'll be a combination of his perceived high risk due to his license status (not qualified = learner = high risk), and where he lives; if he's young, that'll also be a factor.
However his, "can't be arsed to do my test/I'm smart 'cos I can just do my CBT every few years and can avoid the hassle of a test" = Stupid behaviour as it's costing him a fortune in insurance. Does he also complain about the cost of living crisis?
