There's actually another guy that went missing in the same area on the same day, no sign of him either. Some people just have zero common sense. There were signs at the bottom of the trails that basically said "don't even think about it in this weather, you'll die" (paraphrased). They already towed Julian Sands car away earlier in the week.
Aye. Bite like here in Jockland when mountain rescue are sent out to find a group of twats who went into the hills in mid winter with a bag of salt and vinegar and a mars bar. Fuck um. I did try and climb Ben Nevis once but in T shirt and trainers. Lucky if i got half way up the foot path, i was so cold in the sun you could hang a wet duffle coat from my nipples. I ran back down for some heat.

I remember John Mills years after saying they used real Carlsberg and it took several takes. He ended up blotto.

Tom Verlaine, lead vocalist and guitarist with Television. If you listen to nothing else of his recorded work, listen to Marquee Moon.

Barrett Strong. You may not know the name, but you'll have heard his songs and that was the way he liked it.

Incredible catalogue of songs. You're right about him keeping a low profile though. How many people could name the lyric writer of 'Heard it through the grapevine'? I hope he had the right sort of contract - that song alone should have kept him very comfortably off.

I know you find it funny and worthy of a Darwin Award but there's always two sides to a story. In 2018 a mate of mine with whom I'd shared a few adventures emigrated to New Zealand, six months later he was dead. A very experienced mountain walker, he'd set off for a mid winter walk with an overnight in a refuge and down to meet his wife around midday the following day. When he hadn't appeared at 4pm she phoned the police. What the mountain rescue people think happened was that he'd spent the night in the refuge, had gone for fresh water in the morning, fallen, knocked himself unconscious and frozen to death. I'm fairly sure that given a choice he would have chosen a long and happen life and to have died pain free an old man in his sleep. He was well kitted up for what he was doing and had the knowledge and experience to do it.

It's no different to you going for bike ride and getting hit by a truck in an accident noboby could forsee. You're wearing the best protective kit money can buy, you're the most experienced and well trained rider there has ever been. Unfortunately there's a chinook helicopter with a truck underneath that accidentlty fell on you and killed you.

Anyway, my freind was Darren Myers, have a Google and find out what happened to him.

The difference is your mate didn't ignore all sorts of advice like Mr Sands did. They probably won't find much of Sands after the bears, coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats, ravens & vultures etc get through with him.
