Thinking about buying a Z900RS

Post by Le_Fromage_Grande »

I fancy one purely because of how they look, and even then I'd get it resprayed blue with a yellow stripe like a Moriwaki race bike from the early 80s, so costs are going to be my GSXS + £3000 to buy the bike, another £600ish to get it sprayed and another £600ish for a rear shock.

There's nothing wrong with my GSXS, the only thing better on a Z900RS is the pillion seat, I can't see myself spending £4200 just to get a better pillion seat

I think I've already talked myself out of it, but it's a idea that keeps coming back to me, am I shallow enough to spend £4.5K just to get a pretty bike?

The RS is much prettier than your Suzuki shellsuit, imho

Bit more premium, I'd quite like one, but I'm not man enough.

I like them visually, but I choose a Z1000 as it rode more like I wanted.

They shore are purdy, but I'd get a test ride. I'd say your Suzuki would handle better from stock.

Doesn't matter what colour one I buy if I buy one, as it'd get a respray to look more like this

But I really like my Suzuki, it fits me better than a Z900RS (I've got short arms and long pockets)

It'd have to come with magic youth pills that knock 20 years of your age for me to spend £13K on it, I was looking at second hand ones for about £8K

I didn't get on with it when I had a test on one - it was fine but the tank was way too wide and felt really low. Lower bars might help.

I've sat on them, and agree with the above, they're also a bit tall for my little legs, so I can add lowering the seat to the list of things that would need doing to it.

It's one of those idea that seems good until you start thinking about it, especially when I've already got a bike that really suits me riding wise (and three other bikes that I bought because of how they looked)

In recent days I've talked myself out of a ZH2 and an Aprilia RSV4 Tuono Factory. Reading the horror stories on an Aprilia forum is a great cure for 'grass is greener'.

I'm not the one to be a voice of reason. Whenever i've had these hankerings, i've simply bought it... Some were right, some were wrong... but there's always options, choices and other bikes.

I very rarely regret selling a bike... But i've even more rarely regretted buying one.

If it's the right bike... get it done... If it ends up being the wrong bike, you'll know and you'll come up with a plan.

Personally, i think it'll be the right bike.

Life is short. Buy things. If it doesn't work out, sell it and buy something else.

The End...

I don't think I want it enough for an impulse buy, I've already thought about it too much for it to be an impulse, all the bikes I've bought on impulse have been good, it's the ones I've thought about that have been poor decisions.
