Screen mounted wide screen mirror thingies?
Anyone used one of these? I think they'd be more popular if they were any good?

Seen one on the bike of a bloke who was about 80 years of age as he had problems turning his head far enough to check his blindspots while riding so used one of these and was quite happy with it

Wonder if it'd give me enough vision to ditch the sticky out mirrors on the Tmax? Under £11 delivered, so wont be an expensive mistake I suppose, or it could even work out.

Re: Screen mounted wide screen mirror thingies?
Years ago at the NEC show I tried a helmet which had a rear view mirror built in. There was a strip of mirror across the (inside) top of the "visor hole" connected to a sort of periscope setup that looked out the back of the helmet. It was way less clunky than I'm making it sound.
The view was pretty much what you'd get from a car rear view mirror.
I've never seen the like since!

The person that parks next to me in work has got one, it looks fookin daft. I'm not normally worried about how things look as long as they do the job but this is a daft idea too far for me. Surely the old blind spot mirrors would do the job without getting distracted by your own good looks every time you look down

Not too bothered what it looks like tbh. The mirrors on my bike stick out too far and makes filtering awkward. I can shove them forward out of the way but still want some rear vision, particularly for the blind spot, this might offer that?

The thing I never quite got is if you look left, your 'rear view' will be to the right. And vice versa.

If you're looking right, then you're not looking behind. Similar with mirrors, if you're looking ahead, you're not looking over your shoulder. The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 12:27 am

It would mean mentally retraining yourself to consciously use the built-in mirror.
My first R-RT had the little stuck on wedge things on the mirrors. I never consciously used them.

Everything in your car rear view mirrors (or indeed, bike mirrors) is 'backwards' innit - but you brain calibrates it out.

Yeah I wasn't going to mention that. It's a proper melon scratcher, a great example of a really simple question that requires some thought to answer.Horse wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 9:57 amBut not upside downMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 9:21 am Everything in your car rear view mirrors (or indeed, bike mirrors) is 'backwards' innit - but you brain calibrates it out.

No idea whether this works in realtime, but any camera system needs it.Skub wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 11:14 am Sir may require a rear view camera.

Honda's little leccy car has cameras instead of mirrors. The Aston Martin Valkyrie does too. In both cases I'm guessing it's for aerodynamic reasons.

I think I might miss the physical door mirrors - sometimes use them like cat's whiskers, knowing that they're the widest point.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 12:50 pm Honda's little leccy car has cameras instead of mirrors.
