Bit of a pointless strike when it doesn't effect the people paying the wages, they just save paying you for a day

All those students taking out 9k loans a year and ending up with 30K debts plus will be more than happy to stump up ...

What no pics of you manning the picket line and spitting 'Scab!' at the cleaning lady?

Re: Walkout Wednesday! I'm on strike!
Apparently, there are 11 more strike days this month alone! I cant work from home on those days, so I either cross the (substantial) picket line or get my pay docked. Its for the greater good right... "We've" turned down 5% as its not enough. If eveyome sticks to this will the Govt cave in and meet all demands? Where do the Unions think all this money is going to come from?

It can be very hard to disagree with what JP has to say. Not sure if it's my age, but he's very much on the same wavelength as me when it comes to quite a few subjects, especially politics and politicians.

We’ve got the right to stay on strike for the right to go back to work!

JP uses my wife's budgeting technique, she used to spend 110% of my income every month and the fact I didn't have it wasn't her problem.Taipan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:43 am Apparently, there are 11 more strike days this month alone! Re: Walkout Wednesday! I'm on strike!
How dare the plebs withdraw their labour to demand an in line with inflation pay rise to catch up with a decade of effective pay cuts!
It's almost criminal for railway workers (it soon will be) to strike to try to stop crippling changes to their work life balance after their T's & C's are rewritten!
Next the railway maintenance workers will be getting upset when they have to start working again with asbestos tiles, lead and uranium paint during their eternal night shifts anywhere on the route territory (after the H&S rules get slackened off to save money).
It's not like some nurses and teachers are forced to use food banks......

Re: Walkout Wednesday! I'm on strike!
Only had about 50% of my schools closed yesterday.
Most that were closed had 90% of staff striking.
IMO i don't think it will come to anything but we shall see.
Maybe we should all start sending our kids to private schools, just like one's around here in bristol, they are great for the community...

Re: Walkout Wednesday! I'm on strike!
Fund the pay increase for the lower paid echelons of the NHS by trimming the vast infrastructure and bureaucracy within middle and senior management. It could easy real ease the funds needed … and not effect the (dreadful) service being offered now.
Teachers are not the lowest paid in Europe. Drs are not the lowest paid in Europe - neither are nurses.
The public sector feels it is hard done by because of the huge amounts of money ploughed into during the Blair years.
Whist not ever mentioning the benefits , pensions and job security not seen in the private sector.
Good example - Friend wife. Made redundant front NHS - redundancy payment , pension paid up to full. Joins the Health Authority next door as a consultant admin on 120 k a year ( from a prior 60k salary) .
Happy to pay the front line more money. Let’s get rid of all the all the health Authorities Chief execs on 170k plus

I see everyone is going to have to pay the regional monopoly water companies 7.5% more for dumping shit in rivers and the sea too.
