Oof! Not had much tlc eh?
What's going on in the second pic? Can't work out what I'm looking at in that one.
It's not a bad project though if someone wants to spend a bit of time on it.

Kinda tempted to get Bike Clean Xtreme round to detail it before it goes up for sale! Could be the best £80 I've spent!

Ah. Hence the rust. Is it acceptable to stamp up a plate with the chassis number on and tack weld it in place?Taipan wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 3:31 pmCount Steer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 3:25 pm Oof! Not had much tlc eh?

Any progress with the potential buyer?

Just picturing in my head, I'm pretty sure most of my bikes have had chassis numbers which are on separate plates riveted on?Count Steer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 3:39 pmAh. Hence the rust. Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!
No, I've not contacted them and wont be doing so. Its stuck outside my gates at the moment (blocked in by my camper and Range Rover) but I'll get some muscle round to get it onto the decking in the back garden. From there I'll try and get the steering lock off and give it a proper clean then eBay it. Poxy thing is blocking my gates and I cant get the MT out which is annoying as I was possibly part exchanging it friday! D'ohCount Steer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 3:39 pmAh. Hence the rust. How come the steering lock is on? If they didn't have a key I'd have thought they must have broken it. Or is it some voodoo thing that works with the keyless ignition? If you got one of those £25 bypass jobs to start it would the steering lock unlock too?

Yes it locked on but I don't know how yet. A bloke said they use RF bypasses which can make it near impossible to undo? I'll look into the electrics once I've got it in te garden.May even be there is a simple hidden switch to turn it on in its bypassed state?Count Steer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 4:09 pm How come the steering lock is on? TBH its arsed me right off again seeing it and I'm not in the best frame of mind to deal with it right now. But hopefully at the weekend I'll have a clearer head to look at it.

Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!
The plate just tells you the number, it'll be stamped into the frame somewhere, usually the steering head, you might have to remove paint to see it, cars are the same, my Mitsubishi has a plate with the chassis number under the bonnet, the actual chassis number is on the floor on the drivers side.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 3:46 pm

Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!
Is there not a specific procedure for releasing the steering lock and allowing you to turn on the ignition through inputting a specific code supplied with the bike by pressing the ignition switch for code input.??
I worked on a honda forza with keyless ignition where the bike didn't recognise the fob. There was a bypass plug you connected to a connection close to the battery and inputted a code supplied with the bike through the ignition switch.
Just found this
Both in another language but pictures explain

Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!
There si exactly what you say, but because the system has been bypassed, it doesn't work. Well i say that based on what people have told me, but haven't been able to test it as they would only let me view it at the pound and the recovery driver took the keys with him earlier. They are on their way back to me later though...

Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!
Got the keys back so I went out tried it using the procedure in the manual and the video, but it didn't work? Its dark and raining and i was working under torchlight, so maybe i got the procedure wrong, but I don't think so. I assume they've recoded it with a new key, if such a thing can be done? It'll be a lot easier in daylight and when i have some room to manouvere, sos i will try again just in case...

Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!
I lost my car key last year - it took the auto lock smith who came out about 30 mins to get in, recode and pair a brand new key. Well, 30 mins and £200.
It would have taken him 4 mins, but there was some issue with getting on "the database".

Did you link the blue connector and do you have the security tag with the code number on it?Taipan wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 7:22 pm Got the keys back so I went out tried it using the procedure in the manual and the video, but it didn't work? The one I did took a few tries to get it to work but it did in the end.
Worth having another couple of tries in the daylight.

Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!
Yes and yes! It seemed to do everything right except turn the ignition on at the end of it. I'll definitely try again on Saturday in the daylight and dry! I was encouraged that it actually had some life in it!Big Red wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 9:26 pmDid you link the blue connector and do you have the security tag with the code number on it?Taipan wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 7:22 pm Got the keys back so I went out tried it using the procedure in the manual and the video, but it didn't work? Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!
Been thinking about it and the easiest way would be to simply recode/add a new key to the existing set up, which is quite easily done if you have the right kit and what Honda do if you lose your key. But if that's the case, why doesn't ist just recognise the original transponder key?
Looked all over the internet and cant find an immobiliser emulator for sale for one of these? So I'm not sure what they've done to get round the keyless system? Will have to dig deeper on the internet, Instagram etc?
