Re: Keep cake away from office, suggests food watchdog head
I eat in my van so dont have to put up with office related bullshit.
I get some peace, get to read a book for a while and the seat is more comfortable.
Plus I don't have to listen to tedious shite about football.
Ive done the canteen thing, even the office for a while but really I just don't need it.
Mind, it has always struck me as a bit of a twatty thing to do is see someone who is on a diet and getting them cakes. The world full of people who don't think I guess.

I've worked in offices my whole career and never had to deal with office politics.
But then again what is it they say? If you can't tell who the cvnt in a room is...

I used to work in the Corporate Advisory Team, CAT. When people used to ask what CAT stood for, I told them that we were the Cake Advisory Team.

First they came for the smokers, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a smoker.
Then they came for the Cake Eaters, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Cake Eater.
....
Motorbikes will be somewhere on that list at some point

Is it possible that this is some ploy by the health insurance companies to wriggle out of paying for treatment of alcohol related illnesses?gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 3:19 pm It get worse! In Canada they're advising that you only have TWO drinks before dinner.

Luckily common sense has prevailed and there's no such silliness in terms of after dinner drinking.
Wait...hang on...just re-read it. WHAT!!! TWO DRINKS A FUCKING WEEK!!???
Or have I just come over all conspirarcist?

I was saying this to the missus last night. It's all very well not giving a toss when it doesn't affect you, but sooner or later the fun-police are going to find something you enjoy doing that they'll take away to please the majority of it's-for-your-own-good-now w@nkers.
I don't care about office-cake-freedom, so yeah crack on and ban it.

Would you like some cake with the tea vicar? Guess who was a fat vicar?? Now I just decline politely and mutter something about diabetes and the fact that I've just eaten, drunk or am fasting.... All the walking I do has slimmed me down and I have good control of my diet. Talking of which, time to make lunch for today as I am leaving in a few minutes and don't feel like paying £7.50 for a bite to eat in Canterbury.

Europeans don't 'do' cake. They're all panettone, pastries and tortes. They're not going to ban walnut and date cake and malt loaf.

Was it them that banned fresh fruit and veg at Harvest Festivals?

Harvest Festivals are bigger in the EU than they are here, and are all about fresh produce, so the answer to your question is almost certainly no.

It was here that fresh food was 'banned' over hygiene concerns...by one school...but the Daily Fail made a bit of a thing about it. Re: Keep cake away from office, suggests food watchdog head
It was a big thing when i was at Primary so much so home baking was done by my mum and away i went with a stuffed satchel in the mornings. I do remember going with tinned foods also. Ham, Corned Beef or the likes but i shall presume that was when my mum forgot about the Harvest FestivalCount Steer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 9:34 pm It was here that fresh food was 'banned' over hygiene concerns...by one school...but the Daily Fail made a bit of a thing about it. Many years back, I was informed by one of the school gate mums, in no uncertain terms, that if I were to take the Gremlinette Trick or Treating to throw away any homemade biscuits or cakes, lest they contain needles or razorblades secreted there by people who didn't agree with the whole Hallowe'en thing, which she had heard had happened in the local area.Count Steer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 9:34 pm

I waited in vain for the punchline, but no, she was deadly serious.
