The clear does look less noticeable, which is just as well because it's an odd shape, Yoshimura do a nice but expensive screen for the 1000, my screen came from Thailand, wasn't as much as a Yoshi one and I like the shape, sadly only available in full tint, I'd have preferred clear, there's a French company that make a nice shaped screen, but they never replied to my emails so I have up on them.

The Yoshi is very nice but not 260 quid nice.

Yeah there is but it's really small so unlikely to do much I don't think.

Mines about the same height as that, it makes a noticeable difference, Suzuki make a touring version of the 1000 if you want to ride behind a fairing.

That was my thoughts on it. It looks good but if I'm going form over function I might as well leave it as is and not bother. I want something that'll make odd motorway/fast A roads a little more comfy. The Puig, Ermax, pyramid etc all come up higher albeit are more noticeable

We must have had a better March last year as I was already out this day in 2022 Lots of rain forecast which will hopefully deal with the salt so just hope temps rise and I get some saddle time during my 2 weeks off, starting next week.

Think I might put the battery back in the bike, pump the tyres up, clean/lube chain (it was a bit minging with lube but it also stopped any rust so left it) and wipe over with ACF50 the weekend so any dry mild times I can go for a hoon.

Managed to get out at lunchtime for another 50 or so miles. Now at 106 miles and she's got some dirt on her from the field run off/farm muck on the roads Was hard to get much of a flow going as fair amount of gravel/shite in the road but fun none the less.

Starting to get a feel for the different handling and tyres starting to feel less knife edge fall over each corner. Still got more chicken strip than KFC though. Rear shock got flummoxed over some ripples at 80 so that might need some adjustment longer term. Current Ave mpg is 49 which isn't bad at running in type speeds. Revving to 7k at the moment and fuel range is suggesting a total range of 170 miles which isn't bad at all.

Really enjoying the bike so far I definitely made the right choice

My pal just popped round on his. He lost out last year when licence law was changed. Brexit. So had to sell his 1000RR.
The law changed back on Wednesday so he bought this yesterday.
He loves it. Says it's crap above 110, but that will slow him down a bit, thankfully he said. He was a bit crazy on the S1000RR

I've missed riding with him. We're off over to Fuertaventura soon

Yeah above 90 it gets blowy! Be interesting to see what if any difference the screen makes. Bugger all at 110 I think, but hoping 85mph cruising will be more comfy when shelping miles out. It's a strong engine though so fun even below 100 imo. It feels well geared for what it is though, if it was a Honda they'd have geared it up which would be less buzzy on the motorway but less fun. Suzuki got these spot on I think. Considering I paid £1k more than Honda's new budget Hornet I can't think of a better value bike I could have bought. I'm still smitten with it.

So the GSXS is finally out and about Think I last rode it back in early Nov

First thing was putting the battery back in which thankfully was much easier than removal. Fired the bike and it started immediately which is always good after a long lay up, I did fill up with Esso super for a couple of tanks to remove any ethanol but always hate leaving a bike that long.

Next up was cleaning and lubing the chain. Admitted this needed doing in Nov, but it was so coated in lube I decided to leave it to protect against the damp which unfortunately is a fact of life with my garage. And it seems to have worked as the chain was still ok. I used a new chain cleaner for me, the WD40 chain cleaning spray. Must say I was impressed. I sprayed on left for about 30 secs and wiped and this was the result. I could have got it better with a second shot of spray and a brush but I'm a bit wary of over cleaning chains and removing the OE grease so this was enough for me. Fresh lube and the bike now changes gear so smoothly, that Suzuki box I think is the best I've every used, esp after the 690s.


Unfortunately I couldn't then ride the bike due to having family over, but managed to get out between rainy days for a quick 45 min ride last Monday during lunchtime. Was so good to be back on the bike. Didn't go mad as not ridden in ages and mainly kept to 5-8k and short shifting but compared to the car the world goes backwards a damn sight quicker

Sunday a mate and his Dad were doing the bike run to TT motorcycles from Washbrook near Ipswich so jumped on that. The actual ride was a bit slow and dull, the roads were decent but everyone was playing 40mph follow the leader but that's fine and to be expected. The bike jam getting into/out of TT motorcycles was very very dull though. The rest of the day was great, it was a chilly start at 8.30am and the route wasn't magic as it was just A10/A120 to Fordham and then A12 to Washbrook. However after the bike meet we left Sudbury and headed to Finchingfield via Castle Hedingham which is a cracking road. Pace was slower than my usual but actually didn't mind too much as was good practice to get back into the swing of it on my first real ride of the season and near the end I cut loose a bit on my own All in was a great day, did 150-180 miles or somewhere in that region so a good start to the season.

Booked my service, think I'm going to go for the cheapest option and let the warranty expire in Dec when it should stop. I can't see the wisdom of replacing plugs on a bike with 3k miles on it. Oddly Suzuki specify new plugs every 12 months/7500 miles but only change the oil filter ever other service??? Gonna ask for a new filter regardless.

So that's that for now hopefully now the weather is (slowly) improving I'll be out a lot more.

Service done, total mileage 3200 since new. £252 for oil/filter and some chain lube as far as I can tell. Bargain! And boy did they lube the chain, it's fuggin everywhere, all over the back of the engine, tyre side wall, magic Still last one for warranty, although I'm already not covered for anything spark plug related!

Bike is pretty minging from Sunday's ride. There was loads of field water run off on the B-roads so it's splattered everywhere. I was going to wash it yesterday but forecast was for potential showers so I went on the basis that if I washed it, it would definitely rain. Glad I didn't now as might as well sort the lube out first.

Still loving the bike, it really is a peach of a thing. Just need the weather to stay good/improve and I can get some miles on it.
