Plod have recovered my X-ADV!

Post by Taipan »

Just got an email from the Met Police. God knows what's left of it but might be some salvage value? It'd be nice to get anything back as I lost £6.5k on it! :? I'll update the thread as I know more.

"Good Afternoon
A call has been made to attempt to contact you regarding your stolen motor cycle that you reported on the 10th July 2022.
Please note:
Your vehicle has been found and recovered by Metropolitan Police, your vehicle will not automatically be released as there may be a forensic examination or other enquiry required prior to release. You will only receive further contact when your vehicle is ready for collection, a letter detailing the release and collection will be sent to your address.
Statutory recovery and storage charges may apply, you will be advised of the fee relevant to your vehicle by the recovery operator upon collection".

That's a result considering the loss you'd had

A tenner back would be better than how it currently is! :D

Fingers crossed TP, it might still be a runner. Hard to imagine they went to all that trouble to nick it just to trash it.

(My niece had the same sort of message about her Focus ST recently (can't release it, forensics, yadayadayada) but she's happy because the insurance company have declared it a write-off so she should get full value and, I assume, her insurance company will pay any recovery and storage charges).

I was told it was tearing around Romford on a different plate at one point, so maybe it hasn't been chopped yet? Who knows, but if i can get anything back from salvage I'll be pleased. If it's a rideable bike I'll be over the moon as it'll be four figures coming back, but I don't dare to dream... :hmmm:

Apparently storage is £10 a day and recovery £150 but that's from the web and i've not had anything confirmed. Hopefully, the bike will be worth more than that, as it'd be a real kicker to end up costing me more than it's worth to get it back!

Dunno if anyone was prosecuted or if I could take a civil case against them and hand it to the sheriffs etc? Or give Vinny and his little firm the address of said culprit(s) and some filthy luca to extract some revenge! :D

Unless they set fire to it hopefully there's got to be 4 figures in it? Like I say, fingers crossed for you TP. 🤞

To charge storage for any time before they told you they had it and for any period when they won't release it is nothing short of a scam.

Good news they found it, fingers crossed for you mate that it’s as ok as it can be. I think there are rules on storage if the Police have recovered it for forensic inspection.

I wonder how they got the time to write the email, with all the sexual predatory acts they're all up to, plus waving rainbow flags is their priority these days anyway.

Ask them for a photograph of it.
That way you'll know if they had to use a towtruck to pull it out of a focus or wait for it to cool down to examine it (unlikely if they're doing forensics)

If there's anything left worth selling, along the lines of a near complete bike, it'll be going on ebay!

Mail them tonight and thank them, tell them you can collect tomorrow. If they want it any longer the storage cost is their responsibility or to store it in their warehouse and not a private one 👍
