Seized Trolleyjack..

Bloody things jammed. Only had it 35 years

I can afford another one, but like tinkering sometimes.
Are there any serviceable parts?

All the lifting bits seem free. Just the pin that the handle pushes is seized.

Tips?

Don't leave it outside to turn into a rusty pile of scrap, I've got the same trolley jack and it still works fine and looks a lot better than that.

Got the special big one out. Yup. That moved the bugger

But it won't come back up

Undid the big nut and thread thing. Oil everywhere. Even with it in the vice, it's buggered.

Time for a new one. Always nice to buy new tools.

-11 quid on Amazon , multiply uses on bikes and machines , little dab will do you last for ages but keep away from brakes and discs , apart from that always worth having some on shelf
Think it was designed for aircraft use, to prevent rusting in inclosed spaces as it creeps when applied , also good for sticky bolts ect ect lot of people used it on bikes over winter , but works on lawnmowers push bikes, off road bikes ect ect

Finally got me arse in gear and went to buy a new one.
Oh decisions. Trolley jack or bottle jack.
Bottle is lighter, smaller and cheaper. Are they any good ?

Bottlejacks are fine, plus they can come in handy for jobs other than just lifting vehicles.

If I had the choice I'd have a trolley jack.
Mainly because bottle jacks seem to be used by
- people from the 1950s
- third world blaggers
