Steel City Classics

Post by KungFooBob »

Turns out this is less than a mile from my new job.

Anyone want me to go look at something for them?

Interesting that they call themselves 'Steel City Classics' when they're actually in Chesterfield, not Sheffield. But then I guess 'Wonky Church Spire Classics' doesn't have quite the same ring...

They're part of SMC, for a while all the bikes were listed at the SMC address.

Ah, OK. I guess it makes more sense to sell classic bikes via an arms length company than under the SMC banner.

Having said that, they'll be going head to head with these guys. Perhaps they're trying to carve out their own space in that market...?

Their showroom is quite literally a short walk away from my house.

I went when they had an open day a few years back, I'm too scared/poor to visit as a normal punter.

I bought my Guzzi from Via Moto, which isn't far from there. I used to work on Brown Street (no, I wasn't a striper).

Via Moto have some good stuff in. I was very tempted by a nice Tuono V4 they had. But resisted...

The (alleged) value of the stock that the Bike Specialists have on the floor is seriously scary.

Don't be daft. A standard 40,000 miler may be. This has 3500 miles on it, carbon wheels, full system, Brembos, Harris swingarm, etc etc... Whilst it may not be a £10,000 bike, it's a long long way from a £3500 one.

I assumed it was a standard one, but in my experience, modifying a bike doesn't make it worth more, you have to find someone with the same taste as you to buy it, your better off putting a bike back to standard and selling the parts separately.

To a great extent i agree... but still doesn't make it a £3500 bike :D

I'll take the KH,if no one wants it. I think £999 is a fair price.
