One for Moto Martin Lovers

Post by Skub »

I like it. Still looks well to those eyes accustomed more to modern gear. I dig the 'icecream van' paintjob too.

Couple of my mates had the relatively cheap Crossbow twin headlamp fairings similar to that to get that look but none of us could afford the moto martin frame so it was just one of those we looked at along with Harris and the like ...... The Moto Martin just seemed even more unobtainable as it was French

That one looks superb with the full fairing

Even though I don't like sports bikes as such, that looks more stylish than the modern stuff!

Always had a soft spot for a Moto Martin frame.

They were rare to begin with but seem to be almost unobtainable now.

My friend Martin had this one, sold it to buy an RG500, I don't remember it breaking down or him falling off it, both of which are unusual for him.

Those and my pet hate...billet swingarms. They always look like something knocked up in a small metal-bashing unit out of a piece of stock metal as a quick fix.

Christ that's hideous! I assume the frame is about the only thing they have in common?

The photo angle doesn't do it any favours. It looks like it's asking 'does my bum look big in this?' To which the answer is 'Big doesn't really cover it tbh'.

The frame is pretty much the same, Kawasaki engine mounting points are different to Suzuki ones, the bodywork is a replica of the Kawasaki France endurance bikes from the early 80s, the real KVAS bikes used modified Z1000J frames where the top rails are replaced.

Looks like your mate was one of many who have moved that bike on with 16 previous keepers on the V5  ..... it sold again July last year ;)

He sold it once, but the new owner found the frame was cracked, so Martin refunded him and took the bike back, got the frame repaired and then sold it again, I've seen it running and Martin rode it at Donington in 2018 at the Classic Bike Trackday that was also the 4 Hour Endurance race, my memory is that he didn't like it, he also took his Crosby replica Z1000 to Donington and preferred riding that (until he binned it).
