Re: I'll get my coat
From what I read you can press the lock button at low speed (<5mph?) when upright. The button lights up when the lock is available. It disengages when you apply the throttle. In theory you could stay feet up in slow traffic once you have the hang of it. (There's an MCN review of the 300 with more details). It appears some versions also have a reverse gear and a rear view camera!

I bet it's spectacularly hard to not put your feet down, at least at first. It's the same whenever I ride a quad (extremely rare TBF), I have to really think about not trying to put my feet down when I stop.
Probably get used to it when it's your own bike, especially if it's the only one you ride.

The fun starts when you don't put your feet down on the other bike.Horse wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 8:16 amHe said it's not. Better watch outMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 7:55 am

Re: I'll get my coat
I know it's a much less critical thing, but I have to say I don't ever struggle with the switch between left/right gear changes when riding classic and modern bikes. Similarly I used to have a Jap import car with the indicator stalk on the right, never had a problem switching to that either.
I wouldn't bet on myself to remember the feet thing though It's so deeply ingrained....

I used to regularly swap between them. Perhaps, because it was so often, I only had to consciously think about it and remind myself when getting on the first time.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 8:52 am I know it's a much less critical thing, but I have to say I don't ever struggle with the switch between left/right gear changes when riding classic and modern bikes.

The moped I had in the motorhome had a race pattern gear shift.
Whenever I rode it I was constantly repeating the mantra "up is down" in my head, and still kept fucking it up.

Reverse shift is OK on the road. But deadly if you get it wrong on track.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 9:48 am The moped I had in the motorhome had a race pattern gear shift.

I've ridden some very expensive race bikes and had to really concentrate.

Re: I'll get my coat
I used to swop between a step thru and a GSXR1000. The gear shift pattern is reversed on the Innova, plus a semi auto clutch.
One memorable occasion I was on the Suzuki exiting a roundabout in 2nd gear, gave it a handful, then stomped the gear lever down without the clutch.
I was lucky to get away with that one.
Also,I have been known to pull in the clutch lever on the scooter, which is of course the rear brake.
Even when you think you have it sussed, there are...uh...lapses.

Re: I'll get my coat
Having not seen one of these out and about, lo! Yesterday I parked up and there was a 500 version, complete with panniers and top box. 1st impression - they're bigger than I expected although the luggage added to the size. 2nd impression - it was looking a bit shabby for a 2018 bike and some of the switch gear etc looked quite budget, but it looked like it had had a lot of use, year-round. The (quite big) screen and bodywork make it quite an attractive all-weather commuter.
It wasn't obvious (with the luggage fitted) how a pillion would get on if the rider was on-board. Looked like it could be a bit awkward.

They're a big lump in the flesh. I've only opted for a back box to enable easy on and off for the governor, with back pad for comfort. I've been looking into their reliability and they seem really good, as long as servicing is up to date. Lots with pretty high mileage or kilometerage if ridden by Johnny foreigner.

Re: I'll get my coat
After nearly 6 weeks of ownership and acute sciatica that's been killing my right leg and hip since late October, I finally took the mp3 for a spin.
It's like nothing I have ever ridden before.
It's a lump for sure and if you are not ready when the steering lock releases, you can easily drop it. My gammy leg didn't help of course.
Up and running, it's like it's on rails. I was really surprised at how it takes corners. Proper leaning over, great stability.
If you have never had a go of one of these three wheel jobbies, try it out.
It's definitely different.
I've got to get 100% used to it before the better half comes on as pillion.
