I get it, it's a job I hate, but once you've drawn a novelty cock it's quite a relaxing / therapeutic exercise in getting wet

Right choice IMO matey, hopefully you'll be able to ride it in Spring.

I find with my knee (had ACL and meniscus repair) that the 1st ride or 2 after a lay off leave me with a dull ache from about 5 mins in for the whole ride and a couple of hours after but then after that it's all good.

If you are out and about maybe meet up in Maldon, give us somewhere to ride to.

Off topic but does your knee sometimes feel numb in a gone to sleep kinda way? I had a meniscus repair done 13 years ago and I regularly, particularly if I'm sitting still for a while or lying down, get a weird sensation which only goes if I shake my lower leg. When it happens I'll be moving my leg every 30 seconds for maybe ten minutes or so. It's not painful in anyway but it can keep me awake.

No not had that luckily. Sounds horrible. Issues I get are if it's bent tight for a while, which will cause it to ache. Or when I've tried taking up running again I'll get a few weeks in and then find it aches like buggery for a week causing me to stop I also find kneeling horrible so tend to sit in all sorts of stupid shapes when doing stuff on the bike to avoid kneeling.

I've tried hard not to comment (can't remember if I did at the beginning, but I tried not to!) !!!

Honestly - until you've done more rehab and then tried riding the MT in the spring, Just Don't Change It!!!

But, the thread is interesting!

I'm pretty sure you will be able to ride it in Spring. Like SuperMofo said, it might take a few times to get it to be proper comfortable. But, given how much you love that bike, FFS don't go mad before being sure your knee wont work with it!! LOL

(If I had written of the ZX and not the TLs, I'd still be working out how to make it comfy as no way would I have got rid of that one!!)

You could also lower the footpegs fairly easily, though it might be the first time someone has fitted low sets to a bike.

In the loft of plenty I found a set of Buell pegs which are often used for lowering the peg height. Dunno if they'd go on the MT though. But I can get my feet on the pegs okay, its the turn in of the foot and changing gear that cause the problem. So maybe a bigger, stickier out gear lever would be better?

So, with the MT being sold, the game could be back on. I was previously thinking about going a bit left field and had been sneakily looking at Harley XR1200Xs! But that would probably just give me the same riding position problems. So I guess I'm looking for something with more legroom, like a crusier or maxi scoot but don't particularly want either. Another XT660X did cross my mind, but again, I'm not that enthusiastic about getting one. Maybe a big trailleee would suit me for now, but I'll need to test ride to see about gear changing. A bit of a limited field there too as KTMs are out, and again, nothing I can think of leaps out at me? Ho hum...
