I'll get my coat
About two and a half years ago my wife bought a rowing machine as she was worried about gaining weight during lockdown.
All was fine until she got cocky and turned up the resistance to 11.
I came home and found her in agony. She'd managed to seriously damage her back. So much so that after spending a shed load on mri, specialist spinal surgeons and pain block injections, the conclusion was you will probably have to deal with a lifetime of pain.
Then her hip goes, along with £15,000.
In conversation, she said there must be something we can do together so that I get a bit of fun back into her life.
We bought a GTS300 Vespa. She absolutely loved going out for rides and lunch during the summer months.
I had to hang on to the vespa like grim death as she clambered on and off. So, I did some research, went to a showroom and bought this.
A Piaggio mp3 300 trike. I can lock the front and said wife can get on and off with no problem. I don't even need to put my feet down when we stop at the lights etc. You can drive/ride it on a car licence.
The really amusing part was seeing our pristine Vespa rolling down the drive with the guy who delivered and collected both bikes, only for him to drop it in the road.
Don't worry says he...I'll still take it!!
I humbly ask for your forgiveness, but the Mrs had be looked after and taken care of.
P.S. I still have the CBR650R

What was wrong with the 500 version, surely it's more fasterer, which is importanter?

I'd actually really like to have a try on one of those.
I really do like a scooter but I still wonder whether I could actually own a 3 wheeler scoot. I guess I'd have to try one.

That looks an absolute riot.

Just reading about it. You can lock it (the Piaggio) at low speed and it unlocks when you apply the throttle...which can catch riders out if they're feet up, set off and have to stop again.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:35 pmYou can't lock a Niken upright, if you don't put the stand down it falls over.

She's not keen on me going to fast, so the 300 is the best option. It's lighter and more nimble.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:24 pm What was wrong with the 500 version, surely it's more fasterer, which is importanter?

This was the key decider for me. Otherwise it would probably be worseKungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:35 pmYou can't lock a Niken upright, if you don't put the stand down it falls over.

Yes I have been warned about this and so will practice a lot before we rely on it.Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:40 pmJust reading about it. That'll be the strategy for a good few two up rides. Have them out readyChrisW wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:44 pmYou can always put a foot down to stop that happeningKungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:35 pmYou can't lock a Niken upright, if you don't put the stand down it falls over.

Re: I'll get my coat
I think the locking system is the deal breaker here. Interested to know how it works in real world. Does it cut off at 10mph etc. ?

If you're enjoying yourselves why give a rat's arse what anyone else thinks, get out there and have fun.

It's around 5 mph or less. You can still steer, but the parallellagram is locked, so you can't lean, as on a motorbike. 40 degrees lean angle is possible.
