Hypothetical thread; New bike time, but what should I buy?

So I was thinking, if I was to get rid of the MT09 and get another bike, what should it be?

I could go the Harley route again, or Indian, as a feet forward riding position would probably do my knee a favour?



Or should I sell both the scoot and the MT and get a Tmax, 530DX with its heated seat and grips and leccy adjustable screen it ticks a few boxes for sure?



Or what about a Hypermotard? Do they have much legroom? I know nothing about Ducatis, but kinda think I should have owned one before I hang up my biking boots?



Anything else you'd recommend?

If it was me I’d like something light.

Much as I like the GS I’ve had a succession of big heavy lumps and if the wife ever gives up pillion I’d get something like a KTM.

I really want a leccy bike, and car come to that, but they are a year or more away from me at the moment.

I don't think any of us can offer much in truth, you've ridden and tested most things out there and only you really know what suits your knee.

Something like a KTM950/990 Supermoto are spacious, as is the Aprilia Dorsoduro... but whether they'll work... i don't know.

the Hyper is deffo on the same list in terms of knee position.

Isn't there a ergo website you can compare on.?

To be honest, it's the success of the Mt that has caused this. I think it's the best bike I've ever ridden by far and I can't believe it has its detractors! But those that speak against it are far more bike knowledgable then I, and can undoubtedly ride a bike better and quicker than me! But, owning the Mt has shown me that it doesn't mean I cant enjoy great bikes at a lesser pace, iyswim? So why not try a few more bikes and go back to another MT09 if nothing else works out as well for me?

The knee is deffo a factor, but I'm a quietly determined person and i'm sure ill get round that - eventually, but in the mean time, I may go for something whose ergos suit me more for now? So there could be a new bike thread within days, or not at all!

Yeah, I think they're lovely. Would quite happily have one in the garage but I wouldn't fancy trying to thread one through London traffic. Saying that, I'm not exactly nimble on my RT now. I'm fine filtering a straight line but I can't be arsed with working it behind cars etc.

Aye, not light but the weight is relatively low and the low seat height helps with confidence. My missus if 5' 2" and was quite happy lifting it on/off the side stand - okay, not the same as riding the thing but compare it to my MT09 where I had to fit a lowering kit for her.

Which? There's many variations.

No Ducatis are as cheap to own as the mt09. Simple reality.

If you want to worry about pricing, don't buy Italian.

They're tall, lack wind protection and luggage.

I say old school 1100 is the kiddy.
