Re: Fancy doing a test?
It was about paying attention, if you said your wheel could get stuck in a tram track then you didn't think about the tyre size on a litre bike.
I had no idea what shape tram signs are but the question said 'exclusively' for trams, then it was easy to discount round, triangular and octagonal signs.

Yeah if you'd asked me what shape a tram sign is I'd have said I don't know...but once you eliminate circle, rectangle and octagon you're left with diamond! Once I saw that I suddenly remembered seeing diamond tram signs. If that makes sense...

I picked the wrong arm to do my "slowing down" signal, thought I was more likely to see horses than pedestrians on country roads*, I have no idea what happens if I get 6 points within 2 years of passing my test and never considered that not using dipped headlights was even an oition, it's been so long since I had a bike that you could actually turn the loghts off.
I passed my test in 1980 btw
* The locals round here are bery keen on horses and traps, which may have affected my answer

Re: Fancy doing a test?
Me too. It seemed more sensible to me to use the left arm to signal, as the right arm (and hand) would be controlling the throttle. But what do I know?

I knew the pedestrian one from being the pedestrian....standard Boy Scout knowledge that you always walk on the wrong side of the road.

45. Got the wrong arm for slowing down as well, plus something about the shape of tram signs and I put getting the wheel stuck in tram lines instead of slipping on them.

I live in South Yorkshire. Sheffield has trams and riding over the tram tracks scares me to death.

Re: Fancy doing a test?
I probably do about 25-30k per year in the car and about 10k per year on the bike and I’ve never (perhaps a couple of times in Blackpool) ridden over tram tracks.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 8:28 pm I live in South Yorkshire. I've dodged trams in Sheffield and Nottingham despite having never lived in either. I would have dodged em in Edinburgh but they weren't finished

Re: Fancy doing a test?
I ride over tram tracks every single time I go out, and more local authorities are looking at them as mass transit solutions so the questions in the test are valid.

Re: Fancy doing a test?
45 out of 50.
I’d have liked to have seen the answers immediately instead of looking for them later.
The focus on trams seemed a bit odd but going from the replies above maybe there are more than I thought.
Mate of mine got banned and had to redo his car test. Failed the practical after driving for 30ish years.

Re: Fancy doing a test?
I think the trams thing is in every test, i remember them from 20 years ago. Motorbike trailer ones are harder I think as they aren't so easy to guess.

43, took my test in 1985, did everyone get a load of questions about trams, and I had one about CPR and one about treating burns.
