Fancy doing a test?
The UK motorcycle theory test came up on another forum & out of curiosity I gave it a go,and failed
I passed my test way back in 1979,things appear to have changed over the years...
I got 42 out of 50 & you need 43 to pass.

Re: Fancy doing a test?
Surprised myself - I passed!
I got my bike licence in 91 and had to take guesses on the most of the questions related to newer stuff.

Re: Fancy doing a test?
My test had 7 tram related questions in it. I have never lived in a town with trams in, or have any knowledge of the appropriate signage they use.

I don't like seeing errors in the questions:
Q The road outside this school is marked with yellow zigzag lines. What do these lines mean?
A You must not stop here.
It's only a must of there are corresponding signs on lamp posts indicating the times.

Got all the ones about licence type/power/what you have to do your test on wrong. Why would I even need to know that?
Failed an "attitude" question too I'm sure when I learned the advice for slow riding was "fuck everyone behind you, stay in the middle of your lane". DSA seems to have mellowed.

I don't know CPR. Or what to expect on a country lane. What happens if I get more than 6 points and I got the wrong arm signal for slow down and stop (even though I know it I clicked the wrong one).

Re: Fancy doing a test?
In case anyone needs a bit of perspective my 15yr old daughter, whose only road qualification is a cycle proficiency badge, scored 41.
I must admit I did accidentally give a hint on the question where one of the answers was 'crawler lane'. She wasn't sure what one was so I explained it was 'for slow / heavy vehicles on steep hills, so not really motorcycles.'
She replied 'what about Harley Davidsons?'

Re: Fancy doing a test?
43, and I took my test in 1990.
Got the flashing of lights wrong, but in the last 30 odd years I don't think I've ever seen anyone flash their lights to warn you they are there. People flash their lights to let you out, etc, or to warn for speeding.
Didn't get the CPR right, failed the new questions about what happens if you speed, and also go the question about country roads, and something on your side. I said horses, 'cos on the single track country roads I ride that's often the case. I also got the clearway question wrong, but I knew I'd clicked the wrong answer as soon as I said next.
As for the slowing down hand signals, it's about time they got rid of that nonsense - I don't think any other road user would know what the hell you were doing with that one. Yeah, I got it wrong.

Re: Fancy doing a test?
Fail
Too many years of riding / driving abroad, I get my lefts and rights mixed up. but as I'm not dead, it's probably instinctive. :p
I've definitely become more careless though.
