Some of the modern clobber like Seeland and Schöffel performs much better if you want to stay dry and warm. Some of the old stuff (like 'proper' Tattersall shirts) is still nice to wear though.

Yesterday I bought what could have potentially been VERY pleasing:

Today I realized that I lost it someplace...nowhere to be found.

I still wear my Harris Tweed sports jackets and old stuff, but I do get some looks sometimes, even from the other country folk.

I bought a new Schoffel gillet and wore it with my Barbour checked shirt, green moleskin trousers and wellies, and that didn't even get me a second glance at the local upmarket bistro when we went for breakfast. I went in before Christmas in Harris Tweed with tweed flat cap and grey trousers and the lady behind the counter said I looked like I'd stepped out of Victorian England.

They probably thought I was going to a Peaky Blinders party - most of my tweed is more than twenty years old.

Which reminds me, is it safe to bring out my chequered shirts now? Or are chequered shirts and tattoos still the preserve of hipsters?

Hipsters? Meh. Can't let them appropriate stuff. Check is although tartan may be a step too far.

The SonicScrubber Household Electrical Cleaning Brush arrives tomorrow. I can't believe it's taken this long for someone to invent a gigantic electric toothbrush that can be used for cleaning bikes.

And I'd love to know how they came up with 57% - proof that 79% of statistics are made up on the spot...

I can tell you're impressed.

For the first time ever last weekend I used a (manual) toothbrush to clean a bike as I realised that it's the only way to get grit out of the many, previously unreachable, crevices that it has. I'm all up for trying out an oscillating version. I can't find any replacement brushes for it so it will be in the bin by the end of the summer.

It could be good - I'll be interested to hear your views on it, but manufacturer's claims are always worth a spot of piss-taking... Agree about toothbrushes - they are brilliant pieces of kit for all bike cleaning-related activities. I hoard used ones obsessively.

Interesting. Lakeland have the same brush but said this to a purchaser:

Thanks for your feedback. We won't be stocking replacement brush heads as these are readily available from other stockists.

But it also looks like they won't be stocking the brush kit for much longer as there's a 'while stocks last' type label on it. It does say 'do not use on vehicle paintwork or stainless steel surfaces'.

We have an older version but it just gets used for stuff like plugholes and nooks and crannies in the bath/shower rooms etc.

The more I think about it, that little scrubber could be just the ticket for cleaning my LC wheels. They've always been a PITA to clean properly.

They've been around for years, I think mine is about 10 years old. Mine is a different color, but identical.

Lidl do them in his and her colours with pictures of the kitchen or garage on the respective packaging.
I find the brushes are good but the electric bit doesn't make a lot of difference

Over here the yellow version is marketed for automotive detailing, which is the one I got at Wally World
