My phones motherboard (iPhone XS) has died... annoying especially as I have people contacting me for urgent pastoral support etc... ho hum. Going to see if I can get it repaired as replacement cost is rather spicy after having bought wife a new phone for Christmas (she does not know yet)....

Pragmatic thought: she has present early, you put your sim in her old phone?

Good thinking, but I need a phone that connects to my hearing aid. iPhones just work so well with my type of hearing aid, and I don't like putting money in Apple's pockets.... also have a backup of phone on iTunes, so would be able to get up and running quickly once phone repaired.

Actually, her "old" phone connects to my hearing aid, so I will go that route after all! The motherboard is fried on the iPhone and so that will be expensives....

Is it deffo out of warranty? Years back I got a iPhone 6+ off of ebay and later on I got charging problems.I (wrongly) assumed it the battery and took it to the genius bar for them to look at, hoping it'd be a £25 battery replacement. Turned out the charging pins had corroded and even though I hadn't bought it new Apple gave me a brand new phone! They really do stand by their products like no other manufacturer i know!

They said I needed to buy a new phone straight off. No discounts, no help, no options. I declined. I've switched to my wife's older S9 and it is working okay, not as good as the Iphone to be honest, but it works. I am waiting to see if motherboard repair can be done. Time will tell.

We have have a huge drawing printer (goes up to A0) , it fucking hates me, follow the printing instructions for a correctly sized drawing and it comes out wrong, I thought I’d got it sussed but no at 0100 it’s now printing stuff undersized arrrgh bloody thing does it to spite me

Chances are its viral infection so I cant risk spreading it and have had to call off our NYE party. First time in years we've actually had something to do on NYE and I have to cancel it ffs!

Secondary bacterial infections are a very common follow on from viral problems eg flu---->pneumonia.

Opened the cupboard under the kitchen sink about a week ago to find the food waste bags, sponges, etc had been royally chewed. Mouse/mice must have found a way in, though I'm bugger if I can out where. Reluctantly I put some poison down under the cupboards before we went away for a few days.
Came back last night to a distinctly dead rodent whiff in the air. Had the boards off this morning and no sign of any mouse corpse, so must be somewhere inaccessible. Just have to wait for it to go, I suppose....

Look forward to the cloud of flies. We had a similar situation a few years back.

You'll get it to print the right size but then see a mistake or a spelling error as it's coming out of the printer.

I've just been reminded by the idiot thread of one that has bothered me for ages.

Road Closed Ahead signs. I see these and am never sure if it's the road I am on that is closed or a side road off it. The only way to tell is to ignore it and keep going until you reach the actual Road Closed sign. I find most of the time it's for a side road.

Can't they make it cleared with Signs that say something like This Road Closed Ahead or Side Road Closed Ahead?

And one more thing:

Light up biscuit tins. What's that all about? You turn it on once and go "That's nice" then turn it off never to touch the switch again. Once all the biscuits are gone, who wants to keep the tin? Sure they are pleasantly designed I guess, but it's still an empty biscuit tin. Do people keep them out as a decorative item? If you keep it to put stuff in, it covers the light inside. It's just more wasted electronics and batteries going in the bin in the end.
And don't get me started on the idiots paying nearly £100 on ebay for this year's M&S light up biscuit tin.

Sending brake calipers and master cylinder off for powder coating to a guy I know well and whose work is uniformly excellent, and when I get the bits back he hasn't masked off crucial parts. I don't want to go off at the deep end at him, but it's really not good enough and they're rookie mistakes. I mean, you don't powder coat over the faces where the brake lines/banjos/banjo bolts/copper washers seat, now do you?
