Suzuki Bloop (stop laughing). I'd borrowed it & was riding through a council estate past some kids playing football. One of the little fuckers kicked a great curve ball & hit me square in the chest which knocked me off the back of the bike.
Much hilarity ensued.

Riding home for lunch on my RD250 wearing a boiler suit. Stopped at the lights and went to put my foot down but the trouser leg had gone over the kick start so i couldn't and prompt;y fell onto a Morris Marina next to me.

DRZ400, stopped in a castle car park in Wales that was full of tourists, put my foot down and discovered the ground was further away than my leg was long, fell over at 0 mph.

Out-braked the milk float into a left-hander on my 125 Honda... lost the front... slid into the kerb... milk float whirred back past me on the inside with the milky shaking his head sadly.

I picked the bike up, rode to the station, caught the train to London. My levis were shredded from the bottom of the pocket to the knee, with blood running down my leg. Then I had to catch the tube to uni, sit a 3 hr exam before I took myself off to the medical centre to get the wound cleaned up and a shot of tetanus.

Fortunately the bike was more or less intact!

Pulled up to traffic lights on my RD250LC amongst a crowd of mates and went to put my left foot down not realising my trainer laces had looped around the gear lever. Fuck it

Landed in a heap on the floor with the sound of hilarious laughter ringing in my ears

It’s part of my lesson on clothing to CBT students now to tuck in the laces on boots/trainers if they insist on wearing them

16, TS125, whipped round a sharp corner at speed to impress the fit bird who worked in the travel agents opposite, lost the front of course (knobbly tyres on tarmac) and landed up in a scuffed heap, fit bird dashed out though to pick me up and make sure I was OK ...

The one that basically ended my courier career.

Coming down towards a roundabout near the office on my 3 month old GS500, one of the other couriers comes screaming off said roundabout, loses the front and his bike flies along the ground straight where I'm going to be, I hit the brake so hard the GS does a massive rolling stoppie but the other bike smashes into my wheel and amputates the forks, I'm launched 10 feet in the air and land flat in my back. Fortunately the car behind has an off duty nurse in it and the hospital is about 500 yards away. Wrecked back muscles, pissing blood for a while and although the GS got a new front end, it wasn't the same again.

Nearly flipped a borrowed FZR600 outside a girls grammar school, but got away with that one.

As is inevitable I got dropped behind a car the rest had passed. Few minutes of looking for a decent straight to get passed I thought I’d found one.

Poor obs. I gassed it past only to see a sharp LH bend right in front of me. I got kind of round but dropped the bike right in front of the car I’d just passed.

No real damage done and adrenaline/shame got the bike up (no mean feat with a ZZR 1100) and out the road to let them past. They just sat in the car probably pissing themselves.

How about a really stupid stupid near personal disaster?

The RAC/ACU scheme had a couple of Bloops as learner loan bikes.

[For those who haven't ever heard of them, they were bog-basic 120cc singles]

So ... there's a technique for teaching the basics of clutch control. Instructor stands astride the front wheel (don't try it with traily bikes unless you have a long inside leg measurement). Then 'cup' a hand in front of the brake and clutch levers. That way the trainee can be coached on clutch control - but if they let the clutch out too far, pressing both levers cuts drive and applies the brake, so you're safe.

Sounds dodgy, but works.

Unless.

Trainee had done well, so I decided to end the session and give the trainee a break. That would involve parking the bike on its side stand. For extra security, leaving the bike in first gear so it was less likely to roll off the stand if knocked.

To do so, it was easiest to switch the ignition off while it was already in gear.

So I asked the trainee to turn the ignition off and pointed at the switch. At least, I pointed to the headstock, where most bikes had the switch, expecting the trainee to let go of the throttle.

But on the Bloop the switch is on the left side panel, so the trainee let go of the clutch.

I stopped the bike with my knees.

I thought the original was the B100P (hence Bloop) & later ones were 120.

I thought the original was the B100P (hence Bloop) & later ones were 120.

According to that link the original ones were called the B100 & then B100P (oil pump) but were 118cc, it says they were pretty much the only ones to name their bike less than what it was. They called it the Bloop and then later when they actually changed the name to B120 people still called it the Bloop.
