What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
Top speed on two wheels is too easy
KTM525 could run from 20mph through the gears to 90mph
But the easiest for speed was my 1198S as the front could be picked up in 3rd at 70-80mph and put down at over 140 in 4th a mile or two later

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
My R6 had more revs and a longer 2nd gear than my Fireblade. I used to land it on the limiter in 2nd which was an indicated 120mph. Occasionally I managed to get into 3rd. I remember an especially long and fast one on the A66 in 3rd, must have been a good 130mph.

On one of my Donington videos the front wheel lifts under Dunlop bridge at 150. Does that count?

Unintentionally, probably the EXUP that lifted over a crest in 4th, but I don't really count that. Intentionally it's be the GSXR11 that I could pick up in 2nd and get it flat out in 3rd.

I’m sorry but no, to clarify a wheelie is a deliberate holding of the front wheel high for a long length of time not a bit of a hop over a hump

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
Suzuki Bandit 1200 and front was up till about 70 mph then came back down when it ran out of power .......all in 1st gear as i am a hamfisted muppet who cant do clutch wheelies.
If the front lifting over a section of road and staying up for a while counted then 125mph on the bit of the TT course down to Creg Ny Baa pub. First time it happened i shit myself and dabbed the back brake and shut the throttle. Once i realised it wouldnt flip i ran back up and did it a few times more holding the front off the deck longer and longer till Adam got bored waiting for me and the ambulance crew in the car park eating their lunch stopped laughing at me coming down, laughing and going back up to try and get it faster and longer

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
Probably my ZRX11. There was overpass along the local freeway where the road surface dropped about 3 or 4in in about 4ft. I went over it at about 120mph one morning & instead of the bike just taking a moment to land on both wheels as it usually did, it landed back wheel first which resulted in the front wheel gaining 2ft or so altitude. Kept it up (ooer missus) for about 100 yards.
There was another ZRX in the next lane a few yards back. When we stopped a while later my mate said "I wish I'd had my camera on, that was fucking epic" ARRGGH!!

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
Video footage or it didn’t happen.
The ZK4 I had was a superb wheelie bike, it would power up in 3rd gear but I much prefer to do clutch up wheelies usually starting in 2nd gear. Not sure top speed reached but tbf a proper wheelie is being able to control it without accelerating out, chasing them out as it’s called.
I also disagree that wheelies over crests don’t count, some can be initiated deliberately and held with proper throttle control resulting in some proper fuck off stinkers that I think are much cooler than the normal wheelie started at slower speeds.

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
I am shite at wheelies, there I've said it, however earlier this year at 150 I wound the throttle to the stop after realising that there was a fair degree of twist left to go on the zh2 and then the front briskly came up ......thankfully the electronics kicked in before I properly pooped myself as the bloody thing took off like a scalded cat towards the horizon.

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
I'm crap at wheelies, my fastest is whatever a 1985 GSXR750 will do in first, it wasn't very high, probably a couple of inches, didn't realise it was on the back wheel until I changed into second and the wheel hit the tarmac with a fair old wobble, my wife was not impressed as she was on the back, we were doing about 70 in a 30, but we did beat my mate who was on a GPz900 away from the lights.
Fastest deliberate wheelie was about 30mph, as the only bikes I could wheelie with any predictability were LCs and I couldn't change gear on the back wheel.
I have a mate known as Dangerous Brian (with good reason) who's good at wheelies, he's also got a lot of metal work holding his bones together.

A 98 Blade hits the limiter in 2nd at just over a ton.
A DR250 maxes out at about 35mpg in 3rd.

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
If we're allowing over the brow of a hill, 120ish on my 98 R1 on the road past Thetford golf club, the road is bumpy with humps, the R1 was getting a bit lively on the bumps and the best way I found to solve this was to accelerate, came over the top of a hump going towards Thetford and the front wheel just lifted and went a bit floaty before it landed, I was riding off road a lot at the time so it just felt normal.
There's a hump near Twisted Oaks MTB park that anything will wheelie over, my Husky 610 would take off over it at about 70 mph, which I thought was great until the chain broke and my heavily pregnant wife (my son was born the following day) came and picked me up.

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
Ktm250exc..........could wheelie it through the box........only issue being speedo was a magnet on the front disc, so once the wheel had slowed down, no idea on mph!
Fazer1000, could get that into 3rd, xsr into 4th.....just the once mind.
Getting the r1100s into 3rd was a feat......often wondered why I went through paralever bearings every year!
So........proper, meant to do that wheelie, up at @80, down at @120-30

How can you summon the mechanical brutality to wheelie an oilhead, I imagine that if I do it, the liners will rip right off the plate.

Re: What bike was your fastest wheelie on ?
KTM 950SM. Encouraged it whilst going over a crest in 3rd and it properly lofted the front wheel. Must have looked impressive but it frightened the crap out of me as I wasn't expecting it to do that!
