One of my favourites also. Have you ridden the B4343 South of Devil's Bridge to Tregaron, then take the Devil's staircase road to Llanwrtyd Wells, another cracker.

It's a nice bit of world I wouldn't mind living in.

We were camping at Aberearon,one of us used to camp there for the family holiday back in the day.
It was all new to the other 2 of us,we've got plenty of experience around Snowdonia,but not down here.
We rode from Aberaeron to just past Lampeter,then the B4343 through Tregarron to Devils Bridge.Stopped for breakfast at the Two Hoots cafe,then on to Rhayader via Elan Valley.From Rhayader we were going to take the B4518 to Llandiloes,up to the A470 & back to Aberystwyth &Aberaeron.
The thing is,when we got to Rhayader we decided that we liked the route so much that we reversed it back to Aberaeron.
A workmate tells me that the B road from Rhayader to Llandiloes is equally as good,we'll find out next Spring

But on the positive side, I can still ride (although not a sports bike ) and have found a type of bike (IL4) that I'd be able to ride everyday, so plans are hopefully in hand for next year

Can't wait for next year - I've missed it sooooo much. Just glad I've not lost my 'mojo'. Interesting that so many (mostly non bikers!) are surprised that I still want to ride but I do. sooooo much

I'm a bit concerned about the number of people on here who say they are now bored with bikes, rarely ride them, can't see the appeal any more. Up to them, obv, but it seems a pity - they need to be replaced by new, enthusiastic riders, otherwise the numbers involved in general will fall even more.

Not sure about replaced, but it would be nice to add people. I suspect that the 'kids' don't really 'do' forums anymore tho

Finally got to do the NC500 - Actually we did the NC767, starting in Nottingham, via the North Pennines from Scotch Corner to Moffat, back via the borders to Hexham, and down through the Dales and Peak District. Awesome scenery.

Did I mention I bought a KTM?

Absolutely! You may not be able to ride it now (and why would you want to, the weather's shit) but I'm sure you will be able to come April. Less of the doom and gloom! Think positive!

It's not just 'the kids' that don't do forums, a lot of people in my age group seem to have swapped the more considered nature of forums for the immediacy of social media. I'm a mod on a forum that used to be a reasonably thriving meeting place. Not as populous as this place, but still a viable unit. These days it gets about a post per week, even if you're lucky. Most of the old crowd still post on FB but have turned their back on the forum, which is a great shame. FB et al have their place, but I much prefer forums.

I remember Silent Memory predicting the end of the forum thing back in the days of VD, talking about the change to 'push' platforms where you don't have to delve for crap, it gets delivered to you.

The GPZ. Well…. I’d had enough of it. Good day to day runner. But when it rained it only fired on one cylinder when wet.
Still Never got to the bottom of it after playing the component changer game. Shame really.

Hope to do track days on the Thundercat next year.

I had a GSX750F that would do that. Turned out to be the way the rain water ran down under the tank. When it dripped it was blowing back into the coils.

I had a GSX750F that would do that. Turned out to be the way the rain water ran down under the tank. When it dripped it was blowing back into the coils.

Common with Suzuki coils of that period, I had a GSXR750F and a GSXR750K do this, both had the coils mounted vertically behind the steering head and water used to pool on the top of the coils, shorting them out.

She was a nice machine. She actually cost more than the YZF.

Changed the plugs. Leads. Caps. Coils. Checked all the wiring and connections and tried to get it as weatherproof as possible.
