2022 what sums up your biking year?

Post by weeksy »

Slim pickings for me. ;pics;

I guess I managed to buy the Unicorn/holy grail bike for me. The one bike that was a "maybe"

It worked out well enough but was arguably for me not as good as a Duke. Bit tall and MX riding position I guess. But still had a blast on it.

Bitter sweet. I bought the most amazing motorcycle I've ever ridden, but can't actually ride it anymore! Gone in the spring I expect, but at least i owned it...

This, did 6000 miles on it in 2022, I don't know if I've ever done 6000 miles on a bike in a year before, picture was taken on my 55th birthday

This photo sums up my 2022 motorcycling year.
1) I'm riding my SV650S,I only bought the bike as a cheap hack for hacking around on,but it's been a real surprise how much fun the little Suzuki is.I'm made up with it.
2) The photo was taken by one of my mate's,3 of us went for a long weekend down to mid Wales.
We're mates from teenage years & all getting on a bit now,At 61,I'm the oldest & I've been telling them for over a decade that wer'e not getting any younger & if we're going to do some rides together we better get on with it.This year I finally got them to Scotland for a week, they enjoyed it so much that two of them did the weekend in Wales with me.
In 2023 we're going to SW Ireland for a week in May & the Classic TT in August

So far the moral seems to be, if you want to ride, buy a Suzuki, if you don't, buy a KTM

I went and bought a GS. Something I thought would never happen, ever. 🤦 Then there was my 'thoughts of Harley ownership' weekend, luckily that passed without issue. I also had a spell of sporty wanting, but again, it passed, too much tat about. So ending the year with the mighty MT and the gs. They'll do me...for now. 🙂👍

Pretty good for me. I've over 16k on the Zed now since mid 2020. I'd hoped to get riding more in the latter part of the year, but by mid September the weather turned to constant rain, then then straight into Winter. I think I've had two short outings since.

Roll on the Spring. 8-)

A mixed bag of two wheel fun for me.

2000 or so miles on the CBR650R, 1500 on the Vespa GTS300HPE and 4500 on my bicycles.

To be honest, I am always happiest on two wheels, no matter what it is.

Happy Christmas to you all on RTTL.

For me it was getting back on a more up to date bike after selling the K9, and commuting! I did manage 3 track days albeit not full days due to the usual pish, weather and fuel cap falling off but in a word………commuting!

Same here,in fact over the last 20 years I reckon I've spent more time on the MTB's,gravel bike & roadbike than the motorbikes :D
As I'm getting old I've relised that the falling off the MTB hurts more,so over the last couple of years it's become a bit of a dust collector, but that now allows more time for motorbikes

Better than last year, I actually rode bikes for more than just to the MOT test and back.

And spawn the younger but taller passed their CBT. Hasn't sat on a bike since but there's hope.

Lots of lots of enduro rides. Can't get enough. Still struggle sometimes when the lads push it too much, but all's well in the end usually.

Not much on the GSXR but it's not going anywhere.

Question for you. I know you have knee issues, but that aside, what are you going to do to bring them closer to you? What do you need to learn? And will you just get it by riding?

Just the technical trials-bike style stuff. I cant stand up, so at a disadvantage. I just find another way round, paddle away like a good 'un, or just fall off :D

They're younger and braver and been doing it 20 years. They all help me when I need it :)

I'm OK 95% of the time though :)

Thinking that I was now "fairly sensible" when out & about on the ZRX11 at 62, & then buying the ZX11 in June & (re)discovering I could still be an absolute twat when it comes to posted speed limits.
I seem to have got it out of my system (somewhat) for now & didn't go over 120mph last time out... whereas I'd wound out the ZX11 (& the ZRX11) to 150mph a few times in recent months.
