Connecting car to Android Auto on phone?

Post by MyLittleStudPony »

I'm trying to make my phone appear / mirror on the touch screen in my car.

I thought they were both Android Auto compatible (2018 Arteon and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact). But when I connect the phone to the car, it doesn't bring up the app. My car can 'see' the phone as it can then play music from it.

Any ideas how to get Android Auto going? If indeed I can?

Cable or Bluetooth, I think you have to use a cable.

Some phones need to be put in to developer mode to enable comms, I had a Samsung S10 a few years back that needed that to work with AA.

I'm using a cable.

I'm not sure what developed mode is. I had a quick Google, will look again later.

I put the phone in developer mode. It doesn't seem to have helped.

I'm not sure what you mean by swipe.

I have an xz2 and worked on Auto with cable, but not all cables, 1/4 only. I think some cables allow charge and some are full data.

I bought a long one that's like a lace, worked.

There should be an option for USB data transfer from memory....
