If other stories are true (complaining when staff weren't it the office a 9pm on a Friday, sacking people but not paying owed severance, etc.), then he's not bothered by much.

Uh, yeah. I mention the early days of social media just as a reminder that it once was like in the Wild West and contrast that with what we are “allowed” to post now. Not because of increased moderation but really I suppose the much tighter integration of social media sites worldwide. Who would dare “out” themselves by being concerned with certain inflammatory religions you happen to dislike?Yambo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 4:07 pm Seriously?

My posts were not all doom and gloom, there’s a huge MotoGP Shed story I didn’t want to lose, multiple bike restorations, life stories etc. it would be interesting to see how many of those innocuous topics descend at some stage into what would now be de lares a hate crime?
Interesting to me (of course) because I did get into the habit of using forums to blog my real life. Inadvisably it would seem.
But you know what, I do not take this stuff as seriously as you might imagine.

When interest in Musk's plane started it was actually about pre-guessing business deals and trying to get ahead of the investment game. At the time I thought he'd probably just wind everyone up by having his crew fly it around randomly. As the ex-richest man on the planet why does everyone assume he flies everywhere on a 7 year old Gulfstream?mangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 5:05 pmThat was actually my point, in case you missed it. According to a June report by Austonia, Musk has placed an order for the Gulfstream G700 – one of Gulfstream’s newest jets – with delivery expected in early 2023.Count Steer wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 5:14 pmWhen interest in Musk's plane started it was actually about pre-guessing business deals and trying to get ahead of the investment game. But the G700’s deliveries might be delayed by three to six months, as the Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, continues to review the jet’s software, reported Flight Global. Musk currently has four jets, three of which are made by Gulfstream. Musk also owns a Dassault 900B, the first jet he ever bought. All of Musk’s jets are registered to Falcon Landing LLC, a shell company with ties to Space X, the FAA registry shows.

That is a very interesting idea which I imagine involves knowing where the other party is too. Sneaky but relatively innocuous. I imagine the people who would benefit from that sort of “inside information” would not want it shared so widely though.Count Steer wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 5:14 pm

Most people with the information wouldn't have a clue what to do with it in investment terms. It's just how it started. I'm sure the same applies to other business movers and shakers. These business types aren't stupid people, they know the game and they play it perfectly well.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 5:51 pmThat is a very interesting idea which I imagine involves knowing where the other party is too. Re: Chief Twit
Elon Musk owns the world's biggest producer of EVs and as such is the darling of Greens worldwide. His private jet usage (apparently 4, soon to become 5) is in total contradiction of 'Green' values, as is his use of space vehicles purely for his own enjoyment and prestige. Which was my original point.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 5:44 pmYou will have to explain how “your point” is exactly the opposite of what you actually said. But you are "agreeing" with an ironic commentary.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 7:16 pm Elon Musk owns the world's biggest producer of EVs and as such is the darling of Greens worldwide. Anyhow. Are you seriously suggesting that it is possible to run two massive world leading companies and not travel a LOT?
Or are you suggesting that Elon should take a sailing yacht and shit in a bucket just to labour a point?
The only other question would be, are you assuming that Elon is even saying "look at me, look how green I am". My guess is he would not give a flying fuck. He knows he can make a more substantial contribution to society generally and recognise virtue signalling for what it is.
I note you carefully suggest "it" is in contradiction with your definition of green values and not that Elon himself is. Unfortunately you neglect to appreciate the number of vehicles you own does not multiply your carbon footprint, in fact if you stop to think for a second, it actually reduces it by preventing those x-1 other machines from being used in your collection of x.
I still have more than ten motorcycles tucked away in various stages of decomposition. Does that multiply my carbon footprint by 10? No in fact it actively prevents 9 other cunts from smogging up the planet with filthy two strokes.
That's my job!

Re: Chief Twit
It is just a shame then that you inserted "in case you missed it" because I did not miss the error in your logic.
I agree wholeheartedly with the notion that the rich and powerful who fly all over the place all the time are in no position to proselytise green credentials - unless their trips are "essential" by some arbitrary judgement.
And there's the rub. Who gets to judge others for their greenery? Can we rely on an impartial scoring system like ESG (environmental, social and governance)? I don't think so. Looks a LOT like the CCP version of social credit scoring which can be manipulated to either punish people/companies, control their activities or just fine them.
WEF have started promoting ESG and if that's not enough to convince anyone its a bad idea for the rest of us, I don't know what will.

Madman at the helm?
There's also the question which is more popular, Twitter or Instagram. They both do pretty much the same thing, Twitter for text/news. Insta for photos.
It is a precarious moment for Twitter. He's playing with $44,000,000,000 after all. One assumes he knows what he is doing with it but yeah, it's a hell of a gamble. I think it basically comes down to left vs. right. The left wing are saying Elon/Twitter is now hard right, Elon is saying he wants Twitter to be more centred.
We'll see how that pans out.
