You could have a trap for each sink, a happy afternoon of tinkering
+2 I'd also look at the copper pipework. It looks like it has been done by the same 'professional'. Then again, oi quite loik doing a bit of blowtorching. :D

(In the days when the solder in couplings was in little circlips, I used to take it out and braze 'em properly. Now they just smear the stuff inside the Yorkshire couplings. :( )

I grant you the 'workmanship' isn't pretty, but he hasn't scrimped on the solder... He's also used end feed fittings (including the rather rare 45 degree elbows) and has got the solder to flow uphill, so not a complete numpty. If he'd cleaned up after himself it would all look a lot better.

My soldering looks shit like that because I'm a lazy toad and most of it is never seen! ;) My mates is faultless, perfect rings of solder, no big globs or smears.

I don't mind doing waste pipes but it is fiddly and takes a little finessing and a dry fit to make sure nothing is pulling or misaligned

I've learned coping mechanisms to minimise how bad it looks. A tip I got from some 'real' plumbers was to wipe the solder joint over with your flux brush as soon as possible after the solder has solidified and then wipe with a cloth. A damp cloth wiped over the solder joint when it's still liquid can also improve looks.

Agree. A dry fit is essential. As are spare lengths of pipe...

As long as the pipe sizes match (i.e. the waste pipe that goes through the wall is the same as the new pipe) you should be OK. I'd measure the waste pipe o.d. and compare it to the one you're thinking of buying. Don't throw the old pipework away until the new pipework is in and working properly... :D

MCALPINE SPACE-SAVING SINK & APPLIANCE P TRAP WHITE 40MM (66149)

Which looks like it's supposed to do all that the arrangement under your sink does. Is your pipework 40mm?

that worked a treat, needed a few little cuts to Shorten the pipe and its all working leak free....for now

Marv.

If you are to do the odd plumbing job, it is worth keeping some of the Floplast gel in your kit. I find it makes gaskets easier to jigger about with and helps things seal.

Is that essentially silicone grease? I always use a dab of silicone on o-rings and rubber seals - makes life so much easier and joints seal much better than when dry. This doesn't apply to solvent weld pipes of course...

TBH I don't know if it's silicone based, just that it's OK for drinking water connections etc and so I just use it not quite randomly. :D
